Testim vs Androgell

Postby dtwarren1942 » Fri Dec 09, 2011 5:43 pm

I was just advised by my insurance carrier that they will no longer cover my Testim prescriptions, but will cover Androgel. No mention of whether they will cover 1.62 or just 1 0/0. Does anyone have an opinion on Androgel?

Androgel works well and is easy to use. The 1.62 % is easier to use since you use 1/2 as much. It quickly dries to the touch, but is not fully absorbed for a while. Make sure they check your T levels a few week after starting it. JJ

Supposedly Testim is a bit more easily absorbed. Testim has a strong musk odor too. Androgel is an alcohol gel that smells like ethanol until it is dry. Then no odor at all.

Thanks for the information guys. My wife says the Testim smell aggravates her asthma so the Androgel should be better accepted by she who must be obayed.

Warren
If you have a compounding pharmacy in your town check with them and have your testosterone compounded. I was using 8 pumps a day of Androgel and now have it compounded for $45.00 a month.Much much cheaper and it works just as well.

I switched from Testim to 3-month Testopel pellet injections because ny wife couldn't tolerate the Testim scent.

I have been on Testopel for several years.
My next injection is 2/1/12.
I get them every 6 months. Really pretty slick
and absolutely no smell or mess.

I was using androgel for a while but switched to the injections. The reason being is that androgel exposes risk of passing testosterone to somebody else like wife or children via contact with the skin or clothing.
Besides that is really annoying when you cannot have naked body sex with your wife until you take a shower to wash off the possible trace of testosterone on your belly. Transmitting testosteron to a woman can result in her extra hairiness and other masculine characteristics... which is not everybody would want :)
