I was discussing this earlier in the chat room but wanted some more input. I have these feelings after having RRP two weeks ago. I can really relate to these women that have had hysterectomies. Although I still have my balls and penis, it still seems like I have lost part of my manhood. I am NOT wanting to father any more children but I guess it is the thought that I will never have anymore semen or that my ability to reproduce is gone has made me have these thoughts. I just wondered if I am alone in this or there are others who have felt the same way.
BTW, I AM thankful to God that my cancer is gone and I seem to be recovering well. Hope this isn't too "touchy feely". Rick

Rick, you are not the only one that has had that thought after a radical.. I would say most of us miss not haveing the jizz and lots of us miss our natural erections as well. This does get better with time.

Re: RRP same as hysterectomy ?
Rick,
I had similar thoughts for a while after my Open Radical Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy and had feelings of anger, guilt and shame for not being able to satisfy my wife of
42 years. I definitely questioned my manhood at times.
Then, in December 2007 I had the Colopalst Titan Penile Implant Procedure performed at Hackensack University
Medical Center in NJ by Dr. Hossein Sadeghi, a very highly regarded Penile Implant Surgeon.
The Titan Implant completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my
wife of 45 years. Just celebrated the Fourth Anniversary of my Titan Implant December 13th and my wife and I love it.
I share this to show that a full and pleasureable sex life is definitely possible Post-Prostatectomy. Hope this helps.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would just like to talk.

Re: RRP same as hysterectomy ?
Hmm...... thanks for the "heads up" about this, guys. What my original post intended to ask about the PSYCHOLOGICAL affects of a RPP. IOW, the loss of a part of me that made me a man. Yes, I morn the fact that I will not produce semen, but that was the only physical aspect I was talking about. Hope this is clear.
Rick
P.S. In the shower today, I did get somewhat of an erection in that my penis was a little stiff. It was enough to make it almost horizontal to the floor. That was encouraging to me after only about 2 weeks from surgery.
