Man I dont know how this came back up to the top of the list but I will give you guys an update. I am 26 months post surgery and Majic just happened. Injection of a Friday night and all was good. Saturday morning could not inject but took a blue pill and bingo back in action. I am really hopeing that this is a sign that things are getting better. I have not had a successufl woody with the pill till now. YAHOO! and Merry Christmas.

Just wanted to let you guys know that there is still hope after 24 months.

I've asked myself this question in different ways: not necessarily "When do I throw in the towel," but "How do I grow old gracefully?" I know a widower in his 90's who lives in an assisted living facility. He's happy and content, even though he's widowed and (I'm pretty sure) would have a difficult time getting it up any more. It's not passive fatalism; he's actually grateful for the good things in life he still enjoys and pursues. I want to have that attitude, regardless of my age.

Some guys view an implant as a "last resort," but what if you can't afford that? Or, like Matt6909, the risks may be too high? I admire his response, "Getting an erection is not the most important thing in life, living is..." Ater all, how many guys die with a hardon? (Interesting question for physiology or statistics, I'm sure!)

At the same time, I'm not planning on just "giving in" to even the occasional ED I face. For me, it's more of a question of "How much time/effort/energy do I devote to maintaining good EQ (erection quality)?" It's similar to other exercise. I try to keep up with some kind of cardiovascular work out, but I'm not spending hours on end training for athletic events.

The time and energy each of us puts into fighting ED will vary. The trick is balancing present contentment with having future goals.
60's. Married. Occasional ED offset by a variety of methods (VED pumping, foreskin restoration, edging) with Cialis and/or pills sometimes for sex.

I'm 52 and 8 months out of successful DaVinci surgery. Nerves were spared on 1 side. Been using Cialis and pump for about 6 months now. No natural erections yet although the pump will work good enough for intercourse. I do get frustrated but realize it's still relatively early in my recovery. Lately I have been getting about 3/4 erect during masturbation and oral sex with my wife. I am hoping this is a good sign that "bigger" things are on the way.

Hey Biscuit,

Sounds like you're doing all the right things, my friend. The answer to Jeff's original question is "not until you've exhausted every possible solution". Keep doing what you're doing as long as it works or until something better comes along. My mantra is "this is not an acceptable outcome."

See you in the chat room.

Same age and circumstances. I am 4 months out of surgery and also only have nerves on one side. Making good progress using Cialis 2 times a week and VED therapy everyday and for sex. I am seeing slow steady improvement, but if it stayed just like it is, right now, I could live with it.

Regarding the Muse and Trimix, Muse did nothing for me but cause pain. I am using something I believe to be similar to Trimix (Boston Medical) and it seems to work great.

Never give up hope, you need to keep that spark alive incase you get your next woody, if you give up what would you do with it.
Always look on the bright side of life, and there is nothing better than a good sex life, ED brings us down and digs in our brains.
You sit at your computer, how much research have you done or has it been just what the the docs have told you.
For me I got over my ED by first getting healthy, lost weight, I walk my dog each day anyway so through in some jogging, did some walking with a weighted pack, I got mine up to 22k, with research I got myself on to DHEA its got sex life back and added a spark to my life, I'm on 75mg a day.
Hope this helps.

Hi Corvetteman3,

I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004.
Viagra, Cialis, Levirra, etc. did not work for me.
I had the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure done in December 2007 and have spoken withy many ED patients over the last several years as a Patient Educator for Coloplast.
The Titan Implant has restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife.
The answer to your question "When do we throw in the towel on ED?" is NEVER!!!

Hope this is helpful.

Bob

This is a really old post that keep being moved to the top. I agree never give up. At this time the injections are working great and Pills some of the time. I will have to wait for 5 more years to get to medicare. BCBS is not interested in helping guys with any form of ED.
