I am hoping that little by little the term "impotent" can be replaced by "with erectile dysfunction" (e.g. "a man with erectile dysfunction" instead of "an impotent man").
The first dictionary definition of "impotent" is "not potent : lacking in power, strength, or vigor : helpless."
We guys who deal with erectile dysfunction do not lack "power, strength, or vigor," and we certainly are not "helpless." We're just working on getting our dicks to get harder, that's all.
GO MEN!

Re: "Impotent"
I don’t like to use anything negative.
Life is full of challenges. We happen to have “erectile challenge” and most of us overcome it. So it’s not a disfuntion or and definitely not impotence. A man facing and taking care of his challenges is omnipotent in my book!
All the best.

I don't know, I certainly feel powerless, weak, sluggish and helpless. This affliction has broken me.
I am hoping that I can resolve it. Will it change how I feel, we'll wait and see.

Re: "Impotent"
It would be nice if the surgeon that did your prostatectomy would have said " hey here' s the deal" I can almost guarantee to get out the cancer and you'll live, but the truth is you don't have much if any chance of returning to a normal sex life at best it "MIGHT WORK" your dick, 2 years from now but no guarantees. Im not going to sugar coat it this is the facts.
I went to who I thought was the best robot surgeon in the country and I have to give him credit he did remove the cancer the recovery was a peach. But he had to take out the nerves on the left side. Too close to the margin to be safe. OK i'm cancer free but also erection free also, not what I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong I'd rather be free of the cancer and live for a good long while but I like sex and it just so happens that my wife of 35 years looks as good as the day we met and is still wanting to play. So I will fast forward to the events of the last few months since June 1st.
1. Take Viaga 50 mgs daily try 100 mgs once a week
2. Use a Ved daily try to have sex with a strangled cold sensation less dick and tell yourself you enjoyed it and ask you wife that is laying there all sexy if the cold wobbly dick made her happy.
3. Next get all excited about sticking a 1/2" needle in your dick, go to the Uro"s office have him stick it in and get a mushy useless erection that hurts for 4 hour but you can't do anything with it.
5. Tell the Dr. that you are still hoping it will work and now you're up to 70 Units of 30-2-20 trimix and all you get is a pain in the groin that lasts for 4 or 5 hours but you still can't fuck.
6. Call the pharmacist and tell him that the pain is too much ask for a solution nice guy really tries to help out says I call you're Dr. and make some suggestions that have worked in the past.
7. Bimix 30-2 try 70 units no pain no wood.
8. call the pharmacist back "ok try 10 units of the trimix with 70 units of the Bimix no wood just back to the pain only this time for 3 hour.
9. Fuck this shit called Dr. Eid talked to him for almost an hour total gentleman said "I think I can help".
10. Sugery schedued Oct. 26.
!1. Sure hope this works because if not there are no options left.

Re: "Impotent"
I doubt that it would work in your case, but there are some stronger formulas out there.
I was almost ready to give them up when a formula with 80 (don't feel like checking what the formula is) failed to work.
I got changed to 120 etc and it works much like a natural sexual experience. It's not great, but gets the job done and wife seems to like it.
I get soft right after ejaculating, but it come back after a bit, usually unused.
Good luck with the implant. I probably would have done the same thing.

The fact is that "Impotent" rolls off the tongue a lot easier than "erectile dysfunctional". Just look at the syllable count.
"Inerectile" would be easier to pronounce, spell and stomach, but suggests a totality that, for many men, is not accurate.
I will submit this question to the "vocabulary experts" in my head and see it there is a suitable term for brevity, descriptiveness, accuracy and communicability that does not convey some sort of undeserved failure on the part of the man.

Personally, I think we spend far too much time looking for things that MIGHT offend SOME people. How about this STOP BEING OFFENDED. The word is not calling you names, it's not intended to be hurtful, it just is what it is... You can call it whatever you like but it won't change the fact that you can't get an erection.
