Just discovered this forum today and I've been impressed with the knowledge and the quality of the discussion here.
Would love to get any thoughts from the members on my particular issue, which is a bit complicated.

This February when I attempted penetration with my girlfriend while being only about 80% erect...I bent my penis a few times trying to put it in. There was no pain and I thought nothing of it at the time but I started to get swelling the next day and went to the ER suspecting a penis fracture. They said I didn't need surgery (Ultrasounds show there's no rupture to the tunica).

I went to see Dr Goldstein in mid February and his ultrasound showed damage to the erectile tissue (which I can now feel as pain/soreness) and a few small fractures in that tissue. My penis is more bent now when flaccid and my erection quality is worse, although with 20mg now of cialis I can still get fully hard. Since about a week after the injury I have daily intermittent pain in my penile shaft which I'm told is due to inflammation. At one doctor's ok I had sex a few times, but it spiked my pain and now I'm avoiding sex. I regret trying to have sex as I suspect it further damaged my erectile tissue.

At Dr Goldstein's suggestion we did a round of PRP and then I also went to a Doctor he works with in Greece and did 13 rounds of shockwave therapy there. I'm currently home and waiting until we do another ultrasound later in April to see the results of the therapy, and hopefully get guidance from Dr Goldstein on where I go from here. I'd really like to avoid getting a penile implant as I'm only 44 and I fear the complications that could happen.

Has anyone had experience with injuries to the erectile tissue that didn't involve a full fracture of the tunica?
How long does it take for erectile tissue to heal, if it can at all?
Any suggestions on potential treatments or questions I should be asking the doctors?

I'm doing my best to rest and heal but this is both painful and a huge impact on my relationship, as many of you have likely experienced. I worry about losing my relationship, going months/years without sex, and ongoing pain...even if I were to take the last resort of getting a penile implant.

Please create a signature. It makes things much easier to answer your questions without asking a lot of questions. Here's how you do it
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "user control panel"

Then under the big letters "User Control Panel" there is a row of words... select "Profile"

Then down the left had side of the "User Control Panel" select "Edit Signature" (You might have Create Signature or something. I don't know exactly what you'll get because I already have a signature to edit)

Most guys put something like what I have, but you can put whatever you want. Here is mine -
51 years old, married 29 years. Implanted Mar 30/17 by Dr. Brock of London, Ont, CANADA. (AMS 700 CX 18 + 2). Had implant removed Apr 29/17 due to Septic Shock. Liposuction By Dr. Gan and re-implant by Dr. Brock (AMS LGX 15 + 2) Dec 14/17.

Don't get too carried away with the doctor like his name, address, phone number, etc (anything that looks like advertising for him).. you can certainly say Dr. Jones (great Dr.)

Can you please be sure to put your city, state/province and country.

Also, you should post pictures of your penis both flaccid and erect... many of us have significant and may be able to offer you some advice or tips but we need to see what we are dealing with. If you don't include your face you can remain anonymous. I think most of our membership have posted dick pics somewhere in the forums, including me. Many of us are very shy, including me but not a single member would know me if they bumped into me on the street.

1. pictures of my flaccid penis from today. It twists much more to the left than before the injury, although I don't have any pre-injury pictures of my flaccid penis. I also feel that my penis is more "floppy" when I move around, as if the erectile tissue is weakened

2. pictures from today of my fully erect penis, which looks close to my normal from before the injury (slight improvement from a month ago). Note since my injury I'm taking 20 mg cialis a day and also ensuring I get at least an erection a day - Dr Goldstein recommend this as "exercise" for the erectile tissue. I'm not sure I could get hard anymore without the cialis, whereas before the injury I could.I'm also taking 1000mg of Arginine a day in an attempt to prevent Peryonne's plaque from forming as I heal


I typically have pain during an erection if I touch the injured left side, and also have pain in that area after the erection. Dr Goldstein says this is ongoing inflammation

here's a picture of my erection before the injury, this is from 2014. Back then I had pelvic floor issues and penis nerve (pudendal) pain as I still do, but I had no ED whatsoever

Are you able to have sex without pain? How is your length and girth compared to before your injury?

No change to length and girth when erect that I can tell. The main change is when it's flaccid - it's twisted more to the left and more "bouncy". I've had to avoid wearing jeans as they irritate it

I can have sex without pain if I go easy, but it tends to kick up the pain on the left of my penis afterwards, at the points of fracturing in the erectile tissue. Although one doctor suggested I'm OK to have regular sex, Dr Goldstein urged me not to given the pressure inside the vagina. At this point I'm waiting until my next ultrasound with him on April 19th before I try anything else.

It's been difficult, as before the injury we were having vigorous sex about 15-20 times a month

Again, my questions are:

1. Has anyone had experience with injuries to the erectile tissue that didn't involve a full fracture of the tunica?
2. How long does it take for erectile tissue to heal, if it can at all?
3. Any suggestions on potential treatments or questions I should be asking the doctors?
4. Besides Dr Goldstein in San Diego, are there any other sexual medicine specialists you would recommend? I've also spoken with Dr Stacey Elliot in Vancouver

I have no experience with the base problem at hand, but i'd just like to suggest not over-obsessing with it as much as possible.
Obviously it's not an easy situation, but not being able to have a full-on penetration sex for a while is not the end of the world. There's plenty of things to do with your partner, the most important thing is to talk a lot about it and make sure everyone's in the clear and understands what's going on and how you both feel about all that.

Also, i am not a doctor and have no personal experience with shockwave therapy, but from all the feedback i've gathered about it on this here forum, it seems to be a hoax. Maybe not worth wasting your money and time on it.

Finally, an implant is not the only option if you end up having long-term ED.

Fair enough, but I have high standards for my health and my sex life and I will ensure I do everything I can to make the best of this.

So if anyone here has thoughts or suggestions beyond PDE5, trimix, or implants as a way to treat erectile tissue damage I'd welcome their thoughts.

Sorry to state the obvious Charlie but, if you don't get many responses it's not from people being shy, it not being able to answer your questions. If that is the case, I would encourage you to be the one to provide the answers if you get them. I wish you the best on your hunt for answers and I can concur that the shock wave therapy doesn't seem to be all it's cracked up to be... I have not seen any positive comments about it so far.
