I have tried oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg (brand names Vasomax, Vigamed) in the past and I can't praise it enough. It is an excellent drug and an extra option for ED sufferers.

Phentolamine is not a PDE-5 inhibitor (e.g. Viagra, Cialis), it is an alpha blocker that stops sympathetic action in the penis thus improving blood flow and erections. This is why I believe phentolamine is so effective in cases of psychogenic ED, it blocks the nervous system that mediates ejaculation and detumescence. Viagra does nothing of that, it is an entirely different drug.

Oral phentolamine is an approved ED treatment in several countries (Brazil, Mexico, China) and there are studies that show its efficacy. Why is it not widely available in the US and Europe? Poor marketing is my guess, the drug came out at the same time as Viagra.

It is still possible, however, to buy phentolamine online. I recently came across these two online stores:

Is is legal to order phentolamine from the Chinese distributor and have it shipped to you in the U.S. and how do you know about the quality or safety of this product coming from China.

I have asked for phentolamine at a couple pharmacy's in the Dominican Republic and in Mexico but no one seemed to know what it was and didn't have it.

No it is not legal to obtain prescription legend drugs from another country without a legit order. Drugs are imported on compassionate basis. However, the FDA approved Sandoz Canada as the only import of Phentolamine. There is a shortage in the US. You might be putting your health in danger getting anything from China. Many of the recent recalls on generic Arbs and others meds are from Chinese and Labs in India. You may also have issues with customs. US Pharmacies are finding it hard to obtain from legitimate sources.

Hello Flavio, I saw this post of yours and wondered how you went with ordering the Phentolamine mesylate tablets from China and if the quality was as you have used previously?
I am particularly interested in the Alpha Adrenergic receptors in the corpus cavernosum and possibly how the expression of these increases with age and also that some individuals may be prone to greater sensitivity to Noradrenalin in the penis. I see you suffer with psychogenic ED, which I feel has much to with the tonic sympathetic activity in the penis and also possibly the Rho-kinase pathway. It is interesting that you find this non selective A blocker helps you quite well.
I feel my ED is related to this or a significant proportion of it is. I have been considering trying a selective A1 blocker such as Alfuzosin as these are available in my country of course but Vasomax is not.

I usually don't trust Chinese meds but oral phentolamine seems to be a popular drug in China, there are several brands and many reputable online stores that sell it. The trick is finding the right brand, quality varies a lot.

I also tried alfuzosin and it did nothing for me. Same thing with trazodone and terasozin. I believe the problem with alpha blockers is selectivity, i.e. which receptors should be targeted. Most studies claim that a1 receptors regulate sexual function but none of those drugs worked for me, only phentolamine (a non-selective alpha blocker).

Yes, counterfaction is a huge problem in China and extra precautions should be taken if you are ordering meds.

Again, a good Chinese forwarder is essential. Your forwarder will buy genuine products from reputable drugstores in China and then ship to your country.
