Testosterone Count

Anyone know if a T count of 356 would be considered low. The Doc who ran the tests
said in his opinion it was a low count and should be treated. If in fact it is a low count,
it would answer many questions, including the low energy and ED issues............
Thank You

What were the ranges of your tests, these can vary from lab to lab?
The tests need to be repeated a number of times at the same time each morning to get a good idea as to what is occurring.
LH and FSH should be evaluated as well.
Free testosterone also.
It is not just about the numbers, looking at the symptoms is important as well. Your doctor will look at all of the above to make a diagnosis.
357 is lowish.
Have you tried lifestyle changes first to try and get your natural T up if you are still relatively young?

Have your doctor test you free testosterone. Free testosterone is what is available for use.

We are dealing with the Veterans Administration Doctors, so I am not real certain how far
they are gonna go to diagnose this to deeply. I had complained about feeling tired all the
time, and having ED issues, that was the main reason for having the testing done. I am
scheduled to have a 2nd blood drawing on the 12th of April. I am 73yrs old, in pretty good
shape and pretty active, I still work 3 days a week. Not much fat and a pretty good diet
which is regulated by my wife of 45 yrs, she is pretty good at eating right. I am curious
to know if this lower count, and it was deemed to be low by a VA Uro Doc, is causing some
of the ED issues. I guess we will see, thank you for the input concerning this.

I also have low T count in the 330 range. Going for a test this week. What is considered normal for a 64 yr old. I of course want more energy and am tired of feeling sluggish.

To some Uro Docs anything under 400 is considered to be low. I guess it depends on the Doc and
on the test. I know you have to have at least 2 tests done to determine if in fact your T is low.
The second test should be done about the same time of the day as the first one, usually in the
morning. I have my second test one the 12th of April so we will see. There again, a low number
in one guy may not affect another male with that same low number. There are many many things
that have to be considered. And according to some Docs, a low T count does not affect ED.

The "range of normal" is fairly broad.

I had never had my testosterone checked until my annual physical last year (at 56 years of age). My wife and I have been in the swinging lifestyle for many years and, one evening around that time, the male half of our best friends in the scene casually asked me what my T level was and he was surprised I didn't know/had never before had it checked. So I asked my doctor to include T in my labs since I was curious.

Turns out it is 838. FWIW I am a middle-aged gym rat who does not use drink alcohol. Nor do I use any so-called supplements.

Levels differ for everyone and certainly a good thing to consult your physician.

Thank You

My family Dr checked mine at 48 when I complained of low energy, it was in the low 200s she prescribed a jel formula which did nothing, after three months went to 1ml injection every other week which gave me a mid 400 on day before injection. After 7 years I recently saw a hormone specialist who found my thyroid was very low and many vitamins were at a critical low... he also recommended that a 55 yr old male who wants to feel act younger should be around 800-1000 so I doubled dose using 1 ml every week. After 3 weeks I was very anxious feeling and ears ringing and not feeling right... I did blood work on morning before shot and it was at 1250. Dr guessed it’s been around 1400 at the high so recommended me go down to 1ml every 10 days which I start this week..anxious to see how I will feel leveled out at 800-900 range. Been much more energetic and even started getting morning wood again consistently which has been a hit and miss over the last few years
