I got one a couple years ago. It is very fast. It is uncomfortable but you don't even gave time to complaint. It happens very fast.

I have had one done to make sure prostate cancer hadn’t spread into my bladder. It hadn’t thank god. They are painless they put a bit of numbing jell just inside your urethra. The only thing I felt is when the scope passes through the urethral sphincter. But even that’s ok.

I had one and the urologist asked me at the time what I was feeling.....I told him no pain, but it was an odd sensation for sure. I guess there aren't a lot of pain receptors in there and they had numbed the urethral opening so that was not an issue. I will admit that having a doctor yank my penis straight up, then inserting a tube into it made for an experience that I won't forget. But it was all good and I had no after effects.

Had a couple. Nurse will squirt a numbing agent down your urethra. Massage your penis from tip to bottom to move the agent down towards the prostate. STALL for time to get numb. some docs are standing by ready to roll. Be Direct. Ask Dr. how long does it take to be effective (numb), etc. Feel your urethra for a numb feeling all the way down to perineum (end of your penis). Then, Let's Go. It's a non-event, IF, you're numb. They don't raw dog the camera down to your bladder. Saline Water is injected (that's the IV bag next to you) as Doc progresses and looks around.
Watch the "TV Show". That will take your mind off the procedure. Cool part is the camera can rotate to show the whole bladder, Almost 360 degrees.
Then, Snap. You're done.

They tried one on me to examine an anomalie in the bladder that showed up on an ultrasound but couldn't get it up. I had a stricture (congenital or some unrecalled damage) in the urethra. That explained why I always had a dribble when peeing. They said it was a problem because in a possible hospital stay in the future If I needed a catheter, they couldn't get one up and may do damage trying. So I had it removed, using a retractable a three-bladed cutting device up the dinger (I was out) and then inserted an oversized catheter (and bag) for two weeks while it healed. That was uncomfortable and inconvenientcarring a pee bag around for two weeks. 'm happy to report I can now pee like a racehorse and the follow-up exam showed the anomalie to be nothing serious. BUT, my orgasms have never been as intense. Apparently the stricture prolonged and increased the ejaculation process. And then anorgasmia set in a couple years later and I frequently wonder if that al had anything to do with it pr just coincidence since I am developing neuropathy in my feet anyway (non-diabetic).
