The pelvic floor muscles

The pelvic floor muscles are key in sustaining blood flow to the penis and maintaining erections. The muscles do this by putting pressure on the penile veins. The pressure prevents blood from leaving the area, making an erection possible.


Today I do a test. Before pooping I masturbate and have a good / normal erection.. after pooping I masturbate again but with a really poor e delayed erection.

Yes, Tony, this is a little graphic -- yet I think you are on to something.

I have noticed that occasionally when sitting down on the toilet for my daily bowel movement, my penis will semi-engorge with blood and a partial erection results. I do suffer from ED as a result of a prostatectomy, so any erection is a positive sign of nerves healing and blood flow is occurring.

Now add your quote (above) regarding the role of pelvic floor muscles in maintaining erections. This contribution is often overlooked, or misunderstood. You have renewed my commitment to performing Kegel exercises for overcoming ED. In the past I have done Kegels to assist with bladder control (continence).

As far as your "test" results. Don't you think the time between pooping was an insufficient refractory period to allow a good erection?

No, the time is too short: 5min masturbation, 15min to poop, 5min masturbation. No orgasm / ejaculation. Also I don’t have problems maturbating / sex after and after and after. The only refractory period I have is after ejaculation, become more difficult for several minutes or hours.

What I can tell about pooping experience on the test.. I have to do extra force and have the feeling that is not empty. Sometimes happened. Maybe I need to eat more fibre sometimes.

Sometimes this feeling of not having emptied properly indicates a pelvic floor problem. If you are noticing this and this odd experience with your masturbation test, it could be worth your while to see a pelvic floor specialist. You could have either a weakness or excessive tension in the area which also can cause a weakness resulting in sexual dysfunctions. It is important to have it diagnosed properly before you do strengthening exercise such as kegels as these can actually make matters worse if you already have a tight pelvic floor. A tight pelvic floor can often be felt as though there is a weakness in the area.
Age 57, ED issues for 15-20 years. Testosterone replacement with Enanthate and Ovidrel. Currently using generic Tadalafil 2.5mgs and Resveratrol daily.
