This orphan product works by the same principle as intracavernosal injection, but it uses a permanent catheter into a corpus cavernosum so one doesn’t need to insert a needle into the corpora for each erection.

Downsides: reservoir (outside the penis) needs to be filled by injection which could lead to infection. Catheter could irritate the corporal tissue.

Benefits: The implant is less invasive and potentially less morbid than an inflatable or rod prosthesis, and the erection is more physiological. Convenience is better than with injections. Could potentially be less damaging to the tunica than the frequent needle puncture with intracavernosal injections.
