Can anyone make comparisons between mechanical hair removal (plucking by machine) vs a waxing? Particularly with regards to pain?

I have a device that spins a wheel which catches hairs and plucks them pretty emphatically. Tried it on the front of my neck. Hurt like crazy. But the hairs come out one or two at a time. (Amazon reference: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DJMRUF4?ps ... ct_details)

My girlfriend does not want me to go to a professional waxer, but does like me bare on my pubis and shaft (we go back and forth on the scrotum - short fuzz or bare skin) and I like hairless around my anus.

At present we use a trimmer followed by electric rotating-head electric shaver. But that leaves hairs that grow out in just a day or two. Something that leaves us (or at least me, I don't mind a bit of brush on her) smoother and for longer would be nice if it didn't cost too much or hurt so much.

I have tried home laser depilators to no good effect and I don't want to shave with a blade or groom daily or use caustic chemicals.

I have a clinic where we do laser hair removal and professional waxing services for men and women. Those epilator devices are very painful to use, especially on pubic hair! They may work for very fine hair on females legs, but certainly not for men's hair which is much thicker.
We specialise in men's hair removal and men's brazilian laser and waxing. Finding a clinic that knows how to remove hair from the male genitals and buttocks correctly and efficiently can be difficult!

If you want the hair gone for a month or so, waxing by a professional is the only way to go. It takes quite some time to learn the techniques and we use professional grade wax/equipment which you will not find in a pharmacy. Waxing performed by an experienced therapist in MENS waxing will be much less painful than those machines or by someone who does not know what they are doing!
Laser hair removal is the other solution which is permanent over a number of successive treatments, however finding a clinic that uses the best equipment available and that have technicians that know what they are doing with these machines is key to getting a good result. Not sure how it is regulated in the US. Lasers cannot treat blond, red or grey hair, so this may confine you to just waxing if you have a considerable amount of grey in the area.
Electrolysis is only suitable for removing very small amounts of hair around eyebrows and single annoying hairs on women's chin and face. It would take forever on larger areas, hence why laser hair removal is the only way to go. Forget about any of the home devices as they do not have the required power to damage the hair follicle sufficiently. Professional laser medical machines can cost upwards of $100'000 so this can give you an idea of the difference in the technology.

I do not know if I want to depilate certain areas permanently (I recall a study a few decades ago asking men who shave their beards daily if they would opt for permanent removal to avoid that task. Virtually 100% said, "No". Such is how firmly the male identity ingrained in us.) I wondered about that myself. But I would opt to remove certain hairs on my neck that continually get pulled by my shoulder seat belt and fray my shirt collars. On more personal/intimate plots of my skin, the jury is still out.

But I do not like (when I depilate my scrotum especially) getting pinched and bloodied.

I read up on bldoink's find. Even their advertisement is lukewarm.

True, we do not get many men wanting to permanently remove their beards, not possible with waxing due to pain and complications, but can be done with laser. However, we use a strong topical anesthetic beforehand as this area can be very painful to treat. As you say most guys do not want to lose their option to have a beard. If we do this it’s mostly on transgender people or guys just wanting to correct the beard lines a little on the cheeks and neck.

The “Brazilian” laser for permanent hair reduction for guys is actually very popular now. Permanent hair reduction on the scrotum, penis and buttocks, even arse crack is one our biggest selling procedures. Women seem to encourage their male partners to come in for this. Plus the great side effect is sexual sensation in the area appears to be heightened after the hair is removed, one of the reasons men keep coming back to get waxed after they try this!

I believe the above post is SPAM. IPL is rarely used for permanent hair reduction these days. Laser is far more effective and much faster.
