Post Prostatectomy Erection?

Hey all,
It's been close to 6 months since I had the nerve-sparing prostatectomy and still hoping I get an erection. I am 61yrs and in great health. I work out regularly at the gym and love yoga. It's been part of my routime for several years now.
I've been taking cialis a few times a week and not daily as recommended as my BP tend to run very low. I also pump a few times a week but have not kept up with it as I should.
Will I ever get an erection again at this stage or am I fighting a losing battle? ?
Looking for any advice out there from past experiences.
Hoping to get a few helpful responses or get a discussion going.
Thank you,
Trevs

It's too early to know. I believe you can experience improvement for at least 2 years. Have you tried injections? You may like the results very much. Just don't overdo it. I'd try straight alprostadil first. Keep doing the pumping and the pills. Use that thing somehow even if by pumping with constriction rings.

Thank you both for your thoughtful replies. I am encouraged by both responses.
Cheers!

At 9 months after my nerve-sparing prostatectomy, with the aid of 100 Viagra, I started getting chubbies suitable for foreplay and receiving oral. Nocturnal erections started happening again around that same time. Things slowly improved and at 14 months post prostatectomy we had our first PIV sex. I remained dependent on PDE5s for date night and would have been satisfied if things stayed like that for the rest of my life.

I was told nerves take a full year to heal. Seems to hold true because I had hand surgery a few years back and while the joints and tendons healed up and functioned fine, it took over a year before I regained the sense of touch.

How often to you take the Viagra? And what are "chubbies"? I'm not familiar with that term.

“”How often to you take the Viagra?””
Just 45 minutes before planned sexual activity.

“”And what are "chubbies"? I'm not familiar with that term.””
A partial erection. Sufficient for Masturbation, foreplay, and receiving oral but not hard enough to penetrate (PIV)

I was relying on the pills for several years before my never sparing prosectomy (age 64). 6months after surgery pills were not enough - had some success with pills plus pumping. 12 months later went with trimix injections works great.

I have also heard it could take 2 years for full nerve recovery. However if you needed pills before surgery it is known you will have some post surgery degradation (even after 2 years).

As someone else said use it or lose it! Suggest pumping on a regular basis, foreplay stimulation, or going "solo". Without nocturnal erections (and If not "used") your friend will atrophy and shrink.

Do a search on here and you'll see the results are 50/50; Some have got the blood flow it back but a lot of us haven't. After 3 yrs, I'm in the "not" category, and my nerves haven't repaired. I had to go to injections 2 yrs ago and sometimes struggle with proper dosing. Many times I can't feel that I'm having a Big-O, but my wife states that I throbbed. But this is still better than having a cancer-riddled prostate.

Good luck with your rehab.

literature says the average is 24 months to begin recovery. Some more and some less time. I would go back to your surgeon and ask him to explain in detail his surgery notes. I had nerve sparing DiVenci procedure. Before surgery the doc says I may need Cialis to get an erection. Then after 6 months of tri mix use the surgeon tells me he removed ALL my nerves and I may as well get an implant. Find out face to face how much your nerves were damaged. At 4 years since RP I am starting to get blood flow to my glans. Prior to that it was a cold popsicle a stick. Today 5 years after rp. my glans is cold and white. Good Luck.
