I have used it— since I have an implant I have used it only for glans engorgement. Tried it a couple times. It seemed to work but I experienced a couple downsides: Heat rate increased significantly; (it is nitro after all) and some burning sensation. I plan to try it again. You can get it with a script (my doc tolerates my experiments better than most) at most any pharmacy — doesn’t have to be compounded— and it’s really cheap for a tube. Just my experience fwiw.

Check out the search function, there has been some discussion on this topic before.
Nitro is not a great drug for ED. Its effects are a bit too widespread. (Example) The classic use of nitro paste is to decrease blood pressure. An inch of nitro paste on the skin, anywhere, but commonly the chest, is how it is applied. Putting it on your dick is no different. Whatever engorgement you get will be a side effect, but the main effect will be a drop in blood pressure. A headache is the most common side effect of nitro paste from the same mechanism of action.
Most of the places you put your dick during sex (vagina, mouth, anus) are lined with mucus membrane and significantly better at absorbing medications than the external skin of your penis. So you’ll be cross contaminating your partner with nitro.
If you are interested in improving engorgement, Trimix gel in the urethra is a better choice. The effect is more contained and localized and the urethra is mucus membrane that is better at absorbing the medication than the external skin of your penis.
