I'm in Iowa City, Iowa. I think my life long erectile problem is due to a venous leak issue and want to find out for sure. I asked my doctor in the Urology department at University of Iowa Hospitals if they will do the dopplar ultrasound required for diagnosis. They don't want to do it. So does anyone know of a doctor in the Iowa City area or within perhaps a couple hours driving distance who you know for sure does this test? If they are in my insurance network then perhaps I can get this test done. I'm not looking to have surgery to correct a venous leak, as that procedure has a low success rate. I'm trying to gather information so I can decide if I want to have an implant. If I have a venous leak then getting an implant looks more like a better choice. If I have no venous leak I want to figure out what else might be the problem. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I've had life long issues, so this is not age related. I don't recall ever having had a really firm erection. Having a partial erection requires constant manual stimulation. As soon as I stop that the erection is gone. I'm gay, and I gave up on attempting to penetrate anyone long ago. It was just never possible. I take 10mg of Cialis per day. It helps a little, but I still don't have good erections. I don't know if I have erections while sleeping. When I wake up and get out of bed I have maybe a 50percent erection. I suspect that is induced by gravity. The same thing happens if I have been sitting for awhile and then stand up. Having even a partial erection while lying down is impossible. I've been on testosterone replacement therapy for years. It's been very helpful in other ways, but has not helped with erections. My testosterone level is at the higher end of the normal range.
