Semen reddish-brown color
Semen reddish-brown color
Lately my semen has been reddish-brown in color. I had an implant last January but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Should I be worried?
75 years old. Was on Viagra and then Cialis but got fed up with the side effects. Switched to Tri-Mix 3 years ago but had increasingly reduce effect. Finally implanted 1/19/2023. Always looking for advice. Live in Illinois.

See a doctor right away. That is blood. Might be no big deal, but then it might.

What bldoink said. Almost certainly blood in your semen, or an infection in prostate, kidney or bladder. There is no benign explanation. Get thee to a doctor right away. If you cannot get an appointment, an emergency room is not out of the question. Call on the telephone and describe it and the ER nurse will give advice.
The implant is unlikely to be the cause, but could be. 9 months to show a symptom is unlikely, but possible.
Is your urine in any way discolored? It should be pale yellow if you are hydrated enough. Any other color is cause for concern.
There are any number of causes for reddish-brown coloring in your semen or in your urine. Some of them VERY serious.

Re: Semen reddish-brown color
I had blood in my semen a few months ago and I texted Dr Eid about it- he replied:
"Blood in semen is not related to implant. Also we never find the cause and never find anything serious. Often caused by a viral infection."
I did go to the ER anyway, they checked me out and cleared me and it went away after a few days.

Doubtful the implant has anything to do with it. However, as others have said, get to a doctor asap. It may not be serious, but it could be. You never know until you get an answer.
I started having blood in my urine, that ended up being tumors in my bladder. Two surgeries and 6 weeks of miserable treatments. The other option didn't look good.
Hope you find out it's nothing but do have it checked out.

It's not serious but you should definitely go see a doctor, just to be sure. I had blood in my semen once: I just masturbated several times until 'the pipes' were clean.
Age 40. Psychogenic ED for over 20 years. Current regimen: Udenafil 200 mg, oral phentolamine mesylate 40 mg, Seredyn.
Re: Semen reddish-brown color
This is an old post, but I know from my research that blood in the semen is generally caused by
(a) prostatitis
(b) seminal vesiculitis
(c) prostate cancer
(d) stones in the seminal vesicles, kidneys or bladder
