Sex after prostate is removed.

Postby ljd122654 » Mon Apr 15, 2013 5:53 pm

I have surgery scheduled for next week to have my prostate removed due to enlargement and cancer. My question is will I still be able to have anal sex after and still feel the sensations I do today? Also, I worry about ED. What should I expect afterwards and how long before sex can continue?

Climaxes for me are basically the same as they ever were, except that after a radical prostatectomy there is no ejaculate.

From what I've learned in the past year, men who have ED after an RP are in the majority. For how long? I don't know (I'm still impotent), but it seems many are permanently disabled and need artificial help of one type or another. What the percentages are, I have no idea.

Another concern is continence. I had no bladder control for over 3 months. Sex during that time was not something I thought about much. Some men are ok after a few days or so after catheter removal. Some guys have spotting problems for years afterwards. I'm at 10 months post-op and haven't worn pads since September, but I still leak now and then. I know a guy who had an RP 3 years ago and he still leaks a bit.

In short, there is no way to predict any of this IMO. But I would get all the sex in that you can before the op.
RP in 2012 because of prostate cancer. 100% ED, also some leakage problems.

I assume you are having prostate removed robotically? I did as it was my only and best option to get the cancer out of me. I assume you can still have anal sex afterwards as I have not had my wifes little pinky in mine since surgery. I still orgasm like before and maybe even a little better but no semen. I do have ED as most do if not all after prostate surgery. Pills were hit and miss, mostly miss. Current member of the injecting club I guess. Works when nothing else did. All done and said I wish I never got cancer and I still had my prostate and all was good. Not going to happen though. Good luck with your surgery, if davinci its a snap, painless for me anyway. Oh and I was cleared after 4 weeks to try and have sex, but I couldn't. Well my dear wife gave me a hand job. Could get no erection. There are a lot of good people here to answer questions.

Rode: Good point about the DaVinci procedure. As far as major surgeries go, it was a breeze. I mowed my lawn, with a walk-behind mower, about 10 days after surgery.

And I agree: I wish I'd never had cancer and still had my prostate. I've come to the reluctant conclusion that life will never be the same for me. But I guess it's better than being dead in a few years from untreated cancer.
