Pde5 generics vs Brand name

Postby Jeffrey.wright » Tue Aug 11, 2026 5:26 pm

Hello Gents,
Everything I find online says the generic sildenafil is bio equivalent to Viagra. I find that hard to believe when Viagra is charging $120 a pill. Has anyone found that the brand name is significantly better or roughly the same as the generics? I’d appreciate any feedback
39 yo, ED started at 36, normal Doppler and labs. I completely loss the ability to get turned on like nothing excites my sexually and I have had zero spontaneous erections since this ed began suddenly. Vagina doesn’t even feel the sane on my penis

Yes I believe generic sildanefil is exactly the same, as long as it's using the same formula/ingredients and is from a reputable pharmaceutical company.
Pre implant I only ever used generic sildanefil. I only use it occasionally now if I want a "boost" for a bit more engorgement.
I'm on a repeat prescription for 12 x 100 mg tablets, which I chop into four. Just 25 mg is enough for me, but I already have an implant that does 99.9% of the work.

I'm in Australia and sildanefil is government subsidized if prescribed by a doctor for ED. I pay $20 AUD for the 12 tablets which are made by a major local pharmacy chain using their own lab. "Brand name" drugs are often exponentially more expensive, just take a look at OTC painkillers. But I wasn't aware that the brand name Viagra from Pfizer is so incredibly expensive. Probably explains why no doctors here seem to prescribe it, they just write down sildanefil even if you ask for Viagra. And I've never had a pharmacist ask me if I want Viagra instead of generic.

p.s. Are you sure about that $120 price for Viagra? I just did some searching. The nearest comparison for my prescription locally is:
16 x 100 mg Tablets - Actual Viagra $55.96 AUD and Generic sildanefil $39.96 AUD. Both have to be medically prescribed.
