Got ED? (mildly speaking)

I've had mild and occasional ED for at least ten years now. During the past decade, I have done internet searches on the subject from time to time, and came across Frank Talk long before I joined. I thought it was mostly for "desperate cases." I joined only after a friend of mine, contemplating an implant, told me that he himself joined FT; I wanted to support and encourage him.

Even though I'm not a PCa survivor, and my ED isn't that bad, this is one of the best websites I've found. No one is selling something, flaunting their package, pushing porn, etc... things I've encountered at other sites.

However, consider the stats (as of today, Feb.8, 2011) for the top three forums:
GENERAL DISCUSSION: 150 topics, 860 posts
IMPLANT DISCUSSION: 104 topics, 850 posts (almost as many posts as "General")
INJECT DISCUSSION: 48 topics, 246 posts

These statistics seem to mark "Frank Talk" as a site chiefly for guys with the most severe cases of ED. I myself have posted a few times to the Implant Forum. But since FT.org is about ALL forms of ED, how can we generate more discussion (and gain more members) that include milder cases?

I suspect that one reason for the above statistics is the "desperation" factor. Some guys just won't discuss their ED until they have few options left. Even then, sadly enough, some carry their burden alone. Or they live in denial. Or give up.

I'm not trying to point a finger at anyone. I don't feel like I've been excluded in any way, either in the forums or chat room. Even the guys using regular injections or implants have been a source of encouragment and information, sharing how they've coped with ED through the years.

My question is, how do we expand this terrific resource called FrankTalk.org?

Josh

I've read your post a number of times thinking I really should reply as it hit a couple of chords with me. Like you, as compared to many of the men on this site who have had PCa, I only have mild ED. Cialis helps and after just seeing my urologist I asked for an increase in the dose to 20mg. He said I could fool around with the dose a little as I see fit.

What I really wanted to say was that I agree this is a great site. I have learned some but I can't say that I have contributed much as I can't relate to implants or injections. I have read the posts with interest. I don't understand about "pointing the finger at anyone". I have never felt excluded in the chat room. Well ok, once or twice when all the implant guys are in there comparing implants, etc. I can't contribute but so what. Sooner or later the conversation changes.

While at my urologist appt last night I asked about pumping and cockrings and told him that I had joined this site and that there was alot of good information with guys with ED. He did ask for the website and made a note of it. Who knows, maybe he'll check it out and refer patients here.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, long story short, when you go to your urologist just mention FT as a good resource. Who knows, he just may refer patients to FT.

Thanks for listening and Thanks Josh for posting.

I guess everything is relative. My ED is a result of a combination of age/declining T and neuropothy as a result of 18 years of diabetes, occasionally uncontrolled. I can usually get an 85 -90% erection with the use of Viagra (sometimes need 100 mg) but sometimes need to combine Viagra with pumping and constriction.I also recently started TRT, However, I feel confident I can usually get an erection capable of penetration as long as I can start making preparations at least an hour in advance. It's a pain in the ass not to be able to get an erection on demand, but at least I can get one when needed. Accordingly, I would characterize my ED as mild in comparison to those who need to use injections and especially an implant. I know in the back of my mind that I still have the two procedures to fall back on if all else fails. Let me know if you guys on implants and injections think I am mistaken.

That being said, I feel I have a lot (over 15 years of trial and error) to contribute to help those with "mild" ED. I have also learned additional information (you can never have enough information) on pumping, TRT, and constriction techniques, which was not available on other forums. IMO, I find a lot of information on FT which is helpful to my situation and I am thrilled to be here.

I also frequent several PE (penis enlargement/enhancement/exercise) forums which often discuss ED. I always take the opportunity to recommend FT on the threads. I also plan on recommending FT to my Uro and Endo on my next visits.

Good input, Rich!

My urologist says that he regularly prescribes pumping for post-prostatectomy therapy; therefore it would be good for improving EQ (erection quality) in other situations, too. And of course some uro's prescribe pumps/penis rings for having sex. But did the subject of cock and ball rings come up? What was his take on that, if any?

Josh,

Actually I never mentioned cock and ball rings to him. I don't even think of cockrings and cock and ball rings as 2 different things so I didn't think to make the distinction to him.

HI folks. Well I hope you don't mind the perspective of a brand spanking new member. This is my first contribution and I couldn't think of a better way to start. First my background - I am 48 and in otherwise in great physical shape with no health problems. I developed ED about 3 years ago. It started when the occasional hard on from a visual like porn (although it could just be soft porn) stopped happening. Then taking a while to get hard from masterbating (until close to orgasm) and in the bedroom with my wife. I received a 10mg Rx of Cialis over a year ago and sometimes it works like a charm and sometimes not. I started taking two pills without a noticable difference. On a good day 10mg works better than 20mg on a "bad" day. So while I have found a livable solution, I feel I will never be cured and continue to be perplexed as to the "why" of it all. I'm not overly stressed which my doctor claims is the cause along with age.

So back to your original question. Having seen the discussions among the many men with severe problems, I guess I could see how I might feel that I don't have much to offer and nothing to complain about. But I want to be a student, and maybe a teacher to some. I trust I am in the right place. I'm thrilled to be here.

Ken

Welcome ck. You are indeed in the right place. As far as your off and on Cialis hard ons are concerned, it could be effected by the amount of food in your stomach. I don't use Cialis, but I do use Viagra. I learned that with Viagra, I need to take it on an empty stomach. The same may apply to Cialis. I can sometimes get a decent erection with 50 mgs of Viagra. However, if I still have food in my stomach or my blood glucose is too high (I am diabetic) even 100 mgs can't produce more than a weak semi. Can you relate your weak erections to a recent meal and/or high carbohydrate intake prior to using Cialis?

I also extend a hearty WELCOME to the group here; you will find helpful friendly guys eager to help answer your questions.
The Chat Room is the place for lively discussion, friendly bulls hit and idle chatter too.

Althought the pills used to worked well for me, eventually it became a hit or miss thing .... then it was more misses than hits, which lead me to worry about succeeding and failing because of the worry. Then, 2+ years ago, abdominal surgery resulted in some nerve damage that resulted in retrograde ejaculation and even poorer result with pills.
So I know how you feel about a disappointing evening in bed.
Four months ago, I discovered the great job that trimix injections did for me. Nice firm, long lasting erections better than those of my teen years !!! So, keep an open mind. You don't have to settle for "maybe yes, maybe no".

My wife found this site for me. She doesn't remember how. Maybe googling someting related to side effects of a treatment. She never saw it before, as most are promotional sites of something. I think you must pay google to pop up.....impotence blogs does not bring it. If I can get her to figure out how she found it will advise. It may take more funding. This is the only serious site she found for me.
