Who Have You Told?

One of the worst things about ED is not being able to freely tell people.
Who have you told about your issues who isn't a medical professional?
Partners/spouses would be typical...what about anyone else? How did they react - with understanding or with bemusement?

It's nobody's business. My doc and my wife and the guys here, but no one else.

Just my wife and doctor. I don't see any reason to tell anyone else. That would just humiliate both me and my wife. What's the point? Actually, I don't really have ED anymore since being implanted. That too is no one else's business.

Hi Seeking if like me you have got over when Viagra did not work, so if that did not work the its to others brothers would not as well, so went out did the search's of forums to see what others were doing, which was not a lot, then come with my own way, slowly till I found the right mix a hormone, supplements and herbs, get this right and it will work.
But found you really do need to get your blood right, get that working right and you away to good erections again, now I get nocturnal erections that wake me up, and some real good rock hard morning woods just like you would have got as young men, but now I'm 68, so I have got something right, and I would tell anyone who does have a problem, to just try it.
When we lose it we get down, but when you get it back shout it out, and do let others know, for those who have just got here for the first time, there is lots of help out there when the drugs don't work, just keep looking.

Hi to DG_more and Hard Drive, Look your both here telling anybody who looks but you would not tell a buddy, work mate, relative? the more we tell anyone we know, it may just help them if they have a hidden problem with ED, just try and be more open as you are here, the problem lays in being so quite about a problem a lot of guys have.
I work on other web site forums, you would be surprised just how many guys get the guts to come on and have had ED for to long, and wives come onto forums looking for help for there husbands, all because they wont just go and ask for help or look for help.
Its us guys who have done something, about our problem with ED to tell others it can be got over in some way, so no, don't just keep it to yourself, do tell others you are now free of ED.
Good Luck, and do help others.

NOWHARD,
Everyone is different and moves in different circles. The internet is anonymous so there is very little inhibition for posting on forums. My sex life and sexual health are private matters that my wife and I share alone. The doctor comes into the discussion because it's necessary. I don't mind talking to people on the forums about the issue, but beyond that it's private.
Not everyone feels this way of course, but many of us do. In my circles, this would be unnecessarily personal. I don't enjoy being the subject of embarrassing ridicule, and there is simply NO NEED for me to expose my private sexual matters to others. For most people it's TMI, and they don't want to hear it any more than I want to tell it.

I think the main benefit to sharing a problem of any kind is that people can relate to it and help you through it...as ED is so poorly understood and negatively perceived I think telling anyone more distant than a partner/doctor does more harm than good. If you told someone you had cancer you'd be greeted with concern, sympathy and support...tell someone you have ED and you'd probably be greeted with bemusement and possibly ridicule.
I ask this because when I travel overseas to get my implant I'll be gone for about a month, so I'll have to furnish up some kind of excuse. I guess holiday is fine...I just wish sometimes you could give people a window into the hell you're going through instead of pretending you're jetting off to have a good time.

ED is not a subject that has ever come up in casual conversation for me. If it should come up, I'd be willing to talk about it, but I'm not going to initiate a conversation about it. Like HD just said, it's TMI and nobody needs to hear it unless they were to inquire.

I've told several friends about it, but so far none has ever confided in me. Some have said that they and their wives no longer have sex. I'd guess there may be more than one reason for that. I put it out there in case they want some advice. So far, I'm the only guy I know who has ED. Several of my friends have said their wives have problems that preclude sex.

This is pretty much my position as well. Is my sons-in-law needing to know I have Ed?, or daughters? My older mom going to help me out? My sister?, my circle of close friends?. Some of them may well be dealing with this issue too-------but that would be their business. You stated it well DG, at least for me. I find even docs seem hesitant to talk about ED---I can only imagine friends or family members.
