testosterone treatment

My testosterone was borderline low. Uro suggested we try Androgel. Has boosted my testosterone over 1000. Improved erections and energy--very positive results. But my testicles are shrinking. Uro said it would happen--they are shutting down. Is this long term bad? Will it continue? Will I have "no balls" in a year or so? Is that bad? Can it be reversed? I do not want to stop because positive results are good...

Mine was also low (I"m 72) so I tried Androgel. It brought my level up, but had absolutely no effect on libido or energy. Since T therapy is not risk free, and I've already had one stroke and don't want another, I discontinued the therapy. My level is back down and I still don't feel any different - I have no libido whatever, and my energy level remains unchanged.

I am borderline.
My URO told me to try DHEA. Told me it tricks you to make you make more tesoterone.
So the tesoterone is natural Testorone.

It gave me bad headaches after a few days. I do not know if it did anything for T

URO did not want me on T replacment because if I went off it he said sometimes you will never start making it anymore. They don't know. As far as the balls growing back it may or may not. Just don't think they know.

He also said it T contributes to Prostate cancer.
Their is a therapy for prostate cancer that kills testosterone to slow the cancer to a point the cancer no longer grows.

I asked about bio-identical replacment therapy. He says he does not believe that it is that similar to what the body produces and it will still cause you to stop making it.

I guess it is a good sign that your T levels went back to what it went to before.

Hi RB Did I not put this in a post yesterday about gels and injections shutting down your own testosterone making equipment and it is a side effect that doctor do not warn you about, but there are a few ways of getting it back up all without drugs, us men can do it.

If interested do come back.

The Androgel introduces exogenous T which your Hormone system senses and signals your testicles to reduce production. With less T production going on, the testes start to shrink.

I was on Androgel for about six months and experienced shrinkage as well. However, the increased T did little for my ED and caused my PSA to rise slightly. In response I weened myself off of the Androgel which temporarily caused my T to go lower than before I started the TRT. After six months, my T returned to its normal low level, my PSA fell back down, and my testicles returned to the previous size.

I have read that TRT for under a year allows you to easily reverse the negative side effects. However, if used for over a year, the reversal process is more complicated.

I've been on TRT for years. Androgel caused a lot of shrinkage and a lot of hair in unwanted places ( back). It took 4 bottles a month of Androgel to get me up to 700 though. changed to injections of testosterone cypionate, 1cc per week which I understand is a high dose. Still running around 700 but physically doing much better. hairy but not as much of an issue. Did not do anything for my limp dick but did help libido. Still have shrinkage with Cypionate too. Clomid keeps them from shrinking. going to ask doc for a refill on it in jan. Out for a month. d

How much does Clomid cost if you don't mind my asking?

I had been buying a 6 month supply from an on line pharmacy for $35. FDA shut it down like many on line pharmacies. Our local pharmacy charges me $44 a month. Aridimix at the local pharmacy is less than half of that. I forgot to mention in my last post that I have taken DHEA for years. I never noticed it made any difference. I only take it now because it is an ingredient in the progenlone I take to keep the lumps in my penis under control. d
