Psychosexual Counselling for ED

Has anyone here actually had the counselling before?
I just commenced yesterday and she seems to want to focus on rediscovering my arousal more than anything else. Nothing was mentioned about sensate or CBT, just yet anyway. Nor did she seem to think involving my partner was necessary, just yet, again.
It can be worrying to know that in extreme cases, even therapy can't help.
God ED is a curse!!!!

If it works, it is a lot less invasive than surgery and more self-supporting and self-contained than medications or appliances. Go for it as long as there is a chance of sucess. The samereasoning applies to NOWHARD's herbal/dietary suggestions which also have potential side benefits for cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose ,etc.
Good luck

Hi Defiant Just go with the flow for now and don't question the way she's working, do take on board what she is doing for you as you go through this phase of your life, clear your mind when you go into each session with her, this is where a little bit of Zen will help you.
But do try some meditation before you have sex, your find this we help as well with your sex life.

I went to talk to a shrink after urologist could not find anything.
The shrink thought I should see another urologist.
I saw another urologist and another then they found cause.
Problem was not in my head.
See a Dr and a urologist also.
Make sure everything is okay.
I saw several urologist before I got a cause.
They will give you pills or injections before they will give you a cause.
Nothing wrong with seeing a shrink. Or even yoga.
Excerscise helps you sleep better and can help with blood preasure.
As far as the shrink goes try it a few times. I would not make it a long term thing.
If thier practice is slow they maybe trying to help thier bank account and not you.
After a few visits see if it is helping you.
Also nothing wrong with getting a book from library on meditation or yoga.
Even YouTube has videos on meditation and yoga. Even if it does not help with ED you might get in better shape or lose a few lbs. cheaper than the shrink also.

Thanks NOWHARD! That's great input.
Update with me: I was good on holiday but then on the last day lost my erection and since then my state of anxiety has been THROUGH THE ROOF! I've been having such a dark time of it thinking all the usual things... I can't have her, I can't do this, I'm gonna lose my woman, blah blah blah. It's so life-limiting. I've seriously just been considering what life would be like with an implant. (He says at the age of 32 with psychogenic ED).
The prospect of an actual physical route cause will always haunt me i think.
jamesbond: I know what you mean! What was your eventual physical cause? And is it any better now??? Let us know!

Hi Defiant Your fighting it instead of going with it, if your not happy with your shrink look for another one who also works in the field of sexual performance anxiety, you need that seed taken out of your brain that you planted.
But your getting erections, so why an implant, your find its not the same and never will be again.

Hey man,
I've definitely come to realise that my psyche is just completely messed up.
The failure I had was on holiday while I was alone masturbating. The wifi dropped as I said and boom, I freaked out. I've 'tried' to masturbate 3 times since all times unable to even get hard.
So I've catastrophised massively and fear even more even attempting to masturbate.
My girlfriend won't be back until Monday and I'm freaking out about that now.
I need to learn to enjoy sex again but this has been going on for over a decade and has really reached a new level lately. I'm not sure any amount of psychotherapy can help and one just thinks, can I really do this forever, will the pills work forever, how long can my mind deal with this. And so on and so on. With an implant there's no thinking involved.
I know I'm so far off that and I've only had one session so far but it's really damaging.
The prospect of sex with someone new should my girlfriend ever decide to leave me makes me quiver! But I'll keep fighting.

Nowhard,
Just gotta say, you're such a good man staying on here and contributing and offering advice when you've pretty much overcome your condition. Salute!

Well... i don't want to put you or the medical specialty down... but i fractured my penis in August 2014 (hematoma, unable to maintain erection afterwards on a consistent basis from that day on) and.... the psychiatrist at the time insisted i had nothing wrong and that
"it was a very traumatic experience, seeing your penis with a hematoma and going to the hospital so many times, so now you are anxious and can't perform like you used to"
I eventually stopped going and only got an official confirmation for my erection problems in the Winter of 2016 in California, when i went to Dr. Goldstein. If you feel that it's doing some sort of good to you, then by all means go..
