I am still new to all this so I am unsure what it all means. Biopsy in, I haven't seen a copy of the report, Doc was out today, nurse called to let me know results. Seems that out of the six areas one was positive with a Gleason Score of 6. It was small area, Follow up next Thursday to discuss options. Hoping for watchful waiting......nurse will call Monday to tell me whether I am to have a CT or bone scan before Thursday. Hope to get a copy of the report Monday so may can give more details
Although not a great report, am I wrong to think is was NOT a bad one....at least not a terrible one??

I don't really understand this stuff either. All I remember is that both my original uro and the 2nd opinion I got from another doctor in another city told me to get it done right away. The it recommended for me was removal.
From what little I think I know, your results sound promising.
From:
https://www.cancer.org/treatment/unders ... ology.htmlBecause grades 1 and 2 are not often used for biopsies, the lowest Gleason score of a cancer found on a prostate biopsy is 6. These cancers may be called well differentiated or low-grade and are likely to be less aggressive; that is, they tend to grow and spread slowly.
I pray you have a positive outcome and Happy Holidays. I'd say you have ample reason to be optimistic.

Out of 26 core samples, 1 had a very low grade cancer. Doctor said if it had been any lower grade I would not even have cancer. Gleason was 6 (3+3)( Grade group 1).
Given 3 options....surgery....radiation....watching. I have chosen to watch for next year....

That's very encouraging. I'd expect you feel a good deal of relief and rightly so.

Larry, I was really relieved. The doctor was super informative about my options. I just felt like with the low grade and Gleason and the fact it was contained and the after effects of surgery and the ordeal of radiation, that watching it for a year seemed like the best option for me. I am scheduled to go back in 6 months....I also have my VA physical in three....so the PSA will be monitored pretty closely. I feel lucky. And like I said, relieved. And I got a new prescription for the little blue pill....
