Pills, Internet, Cost and SAFETY!

There has been a fair amount of discussion recently on our site concerning pills primarily, but also injection drugs, thru mail-order/Internet as we seek the best price possible since insurance companies discriminate against men in this aspect of our medical care.
Yes, pills are expensive and if one can find a secure source for cheaper meds that can be a good thing. However, please be careful so that you are as-sure-as-possible that the cheaper pill is what they say it is and is safe! None of us need to add to our ED problem with a contaminated pill which causes side-effects and hurts our body simply because it is cheaper.
There is a new article posted on the Home Page entitled “Fake Erectile Dysfunction Drugs Continue to Grow”. Please, read it. There are people in this wide world who don’t care if they hurt you as long as you pay your hard-earned money and buy their product. Throughout the US there is an attraction to buying pills from Canada because they are cheaper. I understand and appreciate that thought. But, beyond the cost; the question you need to ask is where is the drug manufactured? The quality controls on drug manufacturing which exist in the US and Canada are not necessarily present in all countries. A drug bought in Canada may or may not be made in Canada.
Buying any drug made in China, at this point, is not a good idea. Their lack of standards and oversight protection for their own people, let alone us, is so abysmal; guys, regardless of price it is not worth the gamble. Drugs made in India appear to be more complicated as they are experiencing a growing sophistication in manufacturing standards which some producers follow and some don’t. Consider asking the “store” 1.) where is the drug manufactured, 2.) what quality control standards govern the manufacturing process and 3.) what type of quality inspection process governs the manufacturing plant. Remember, a site that says it is in Canada can also be a re-route to a place somewhere far away with “Peggy” answering the screen. . . .You and Lou Holtz could be in the same boat!
Our doctors can not assist us with this issue. No doctor, because of malpractice and professional licensing considerations, could/should verify or suggest that those sources are secure or safe. Also remember, these pills are probably a generic which means they are NOT identical to the “real” pill. Even if they have the exact same active “medicine” ingredient, the binders, fillers and casing are probably chemically different. Sometime this matters and sometimes it doesn't. The science is beyond me, but it can make a difference in efficacy or safety.
Please, I’m not trying to moralize or preach with this post. It’s just that I like you all and want to continue to enjoy your humor, support and wisdom for years to come. I am also not suggesting that all Internet sources are unsafe. But, due diligence is required and all should proceed with caution and eyes open. Price is not everything as we protect our most precious body part and rise to the occasion.
Just a thought.
