Strange and unusual response of my penis to the pump

It's quite possible that you body needs more time to recharge.
I dont know your age, but I'm guessing you are not a teen. Where you could bust a nut and within an hour be ready to go again.

In my experience some pumps are weak, leaky, or both, and it might not be obvious where. Sometimes I think I have a good seal but nothing happens. Then I twist it just a bit and suddenly it swells, meaning it was really leaky at the seal and I didn't realize it. But I think sometimes the pump mechanism itself is just really weak.

A little arousal probably makes you just a little thicker at the base and causes a more airtight seal between your penis and the rubber. Also, the rubber seal acts like a cockring by itself without the pump (try it sometime). The rubber ring will constrict the outflow veins and help erection IF the inflow arteries dilate from arousal.
