Looking for advise

Postby wlliam40 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 9:27 am

I recently decided to try a pump for penile rehab following a nerve sparing prosectomy in Jul 2014. Having sex would be nice butat this time not the most important thing in my life. I thought I had done sufficient research in what I thought was important; namely a pressure gauge so I could determine the amount of pressure I was pacing on my body, and a way to decrease it rapidly if needed, and of course price was a consideration - arrived at a pump sold as a sex toy from Adam and Eve (don't laugh) Instructions say not to exert more than 12 lbs pressure, I can sometimes get the pressure up to 7 lbs mostly it is in the vicinity of 4 - 5 pounds. I have shaved the area where the suction device goes thus trying to insure a good seal - basically what I get is a slight enlargement of girth - anyone have any ideas - have I spent money on a useless devicde

That's pretty cheap compared with some of the medical grade devices - IIRC I paid nearly $400 for an Osbon many years ago. Worst purchase I ever made - my wife and I both hated the thing.
Dave, 80, Maryland - Implant (Titan) 2008 by Dr. Andrew Kramer (failed Sept 2020) - never used due to a stroke that, among other things, ended my sex life.
Life is not the way it's supposed to be, it's the way it is.

I deal in inches of mercury (in/hg). I have been pumping for more than five years and everything I have read cautions not exceed 5 in/hg which is about 2.5 lbs/sq in. Accordingly, your pump should be good for your purpose. It is also recommended to pulse pump - varying the vacuum between 1 lb and 2.5 lb. Also, the size of the tube is important. If it is too big, it can be ineffective. The following is a good reference:

Cylinder sizing

Base Girth --> Cylinder Diameter
3.50 to 4.50* --> 1.50
4.75 to 5.25* --> 1.75
5.50 to 6.00* --> 2.00
6.25 to 6.75* --> 2.25
7.00 to 7.50* --> 2.50
7.75 to 8.25* --> 2.75
Age 81
Diabetic
Pumping
Started Trimix injections 8/'11

I have been pumping for a few years but starting out it was not as easy as you would expect. First thing you need is a good routine. Start pumping up for a minute at a low pressure then release pressure and pump again at a slightly higher pressure, do this five times. Then pump up and hold the pressure for 5 minutes at a higher pressure and release, and start again, do this 2 more times with the last pressure being the maximum pressure. I did this for about 2 weeks before attempting IC.
My guess is if you are able to hold a pressure your cylinder size is most likely OK. What I have noticed if you pump too fast only the head of the penis gets enlarged and not the shaft.

Wll,

I've been using an Encore pump for about 6 years now and never had an issue getting it to pump up to max everything. It has no pressure gauge but is self-limiting anyways.

One thing that possibly is holding you back is, if you have waited 8 months before starting pumping then Little Will might just be out of shape and not very stretchy and is now just a couch potato. I guess it will not help by saying that you should have started pumping by week 4 after surgery and been doing it regularly -- daily if possible. But I add the message in here for those who follow in the future and can get going early and often.

Also during pumping it always starts off as if it is not going to go much of anywhere .. then physics and hydraulics take over and it fills up. Even then it seems to reach a plateau half way where I might think it is not going to expand any more .. (and it might get a little uncomfortable and aching ). At that point you might have to release pressure a bit and then start trying to repump thru the ache -- eventually you can and get all the way up and well beyond your old natural erect length and girth.

Hard to say if you just have a pump that can't handle the amount of vacuum needed? You got a link to the A&E page so we can take a look?

RP 2008 ... MUSE 2008-9 .. TriMix Gel 2009 .. Trimix 2009-2015 ... PGE-1 2016-2019 ..Misoprostal 2019 Onward. All worked.
