Venous Leakage

I have just started using a pump (Vasurect Premier) and it works a treat. However, the erection leaks away gradually. I would like to know if this improves over time such that an erection is maintained. Is this all part of the natural healing process?

I am now 5 months since having a robotic prostatectomy. I am 52.

You are using a ring to keep the blood in the penis, right? Maybe the one you're using is too large? You must have options as to the size you need. I use the Erec-Tech and I have no problems keeping that sucker up. In fact, after I orgasm, I have a hard time getting the ring off. Someone had mentioned using a larger ring (the Erec-Tech I have has three sizes), a small, average, and whopper (3% of the male population, as I understand it). Well, I use the 'average' and don't want to invest in the next size as I know damn well mine in NOT a whopper, regardless what my ego tells me.

Yes I am using a ring. It is the the size 1 which is the biggest but that is the size indicated by the template that came with the pump . I tried the size 2 but it was far too tight and I couldn't get my foreskin through it which caused discomfort during pumping. So I settled on size 1 which is tight enough and is about right according to my consultant.

I would like to know if the valves that control the flow recover with time and if so how long it takes.

I do not have any answers for you, other than what I was told is that over time the valves will heal [it may be more related to the nerves controlling the valves if what I was told is applicable to you] - but I have basically a similar question. I am three months post rad. prost. and had been having success with the pump. My wife and I attempted to transfer that success to intercourse, and I didn't have the same success maintaining an erection as I had when 'rehabilitating'. It was more flop than success. Any ideas or suggestions as to what caused the drop in success would be appreciated. Thanks, om

I have been using the pump for just about a month now and I am starting to see some progress. My initial attempts at intercourse were a flop. I could maintain an erection for a few minutes from the pump during rehab exercise but it didn't last during intercourse. I think this was partly due to having to fumble around and get everything in place. However, in the last two attempts I have been able to maintain an erection long enough to get things located and start normal intercourse. I have also been able to orgasm fairly quickly without too much effort. That was a great encouragement and made it much easier the second time.

So my advice would be to be patient as progress is slow. I am now 6 months in and we are now enjoying a reasonable level of intercourse with the use of a pump. My wife is also being very patient and encouraging at the slightest improvement which is a big help.

With the foam sleeve on, from usamedequip, you can use a tighter ring and it is not uncomfortable. The sleeve kinda cushions the ring from biting into your penis.

the D medium pink rings are the tighest ring if you have trouble keeping the blood in. You may have to try a few different sizes before you get dialed in.

I can get hard using Viagra but I lose it too soon so will start trying to use a ring that came with a pump someone gave me. It appears that I can slide the ring on with the Encore tube after Viagra makes it hard and hopefully hold it hard for a while longer. My question is: does the ring help with ejaculation? Mine is not much when it happens. A year ago before radiation and seeding I was great even at age 74 at that time. Once a week and sometimes twice. Now it is more like every 10 days and usually takes me to j/o. Even receiving oral does not pop it. It seems to take forever for me to finish. Anybody have any optimistic words or am I in the same ED boat as many? Any words would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I also experience venous leakage, from Peyronie's not allowing the tissue to expand, squeezing down on the veins to retain the blood. I think the valves are only in the arteries (inlet side).

You have to use a constricting band. There are a variety of shapes, sizes, and strechability.

For the longest time, it was enough for me to use a large, maximum stretch (gray) ring. More recently, I had to go to a medium (beige) ring, which was much more uncomfortable. I have yet to try the large extended length foam sleeve I just received from USA Medical Equipment, That may require a different ring size, but all the posts here say it is much more comfortable.

Venous leakage can be very frustrating when trying to maintain an erection which is suitable for satisfactory intercourse.
A good analogy is trying to put air into a tire with a pin-hole in it.
The tire will fill but will gradually deflate as the air leaks out through the pin-hole.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65.
Viagra, Cialis, etc. did not work for me.
