How to deal with the Hinge effect

Pre implant, I used a Vacurect VED for 6 years. It worked well, since the penis was sucked through the ring which was pulled down into the fat pad. There was very little hinge effect. My wife was pleased with the larger than life erection it produced (both length and girth, especially the girth). And after 6 years of using it, I kept my pre-prostatectomy 7 inches, after the implant.
There was a learning curve in using it. But it was very easy to load the ring by just snapping it on to the cylinder.

That's reassuring to here, I think I'll be okay, there is a knack to using them but it does work well. I don't have to use a pump, just have to work my way up through the increasing tensions of ring, pure venous leakage you see.

Was it the prostate operation that made you go for the implant in the end?

Before my cancerous prostate was removed I was needing Viagra every so often. After it was removed, pills did not work at all. I had a poor time using shots. So the only thing that would coax my little penis out of the of the folds of skin was a pump. I tried several of them. The one that worked best for me and the easiest to use was the Bonro Vacurect. Turns out that the pump helped me regain my pre prostate removal size. I lost no length or girth after implant. It took me 7 years, after surgery, to come to terms that my erection was not coming back, ever. I look back now and wish I had the implant immediately after surgery or as soon as was possible. It would have saved me a lot of anxiety.

May i ask you why did you choose to go implant route even though the pump was working?

I just really got tired of it and many of the guys on the forum that I was on at the time had been implanted and as many so of them and here have stated, "I wish I hadn't waited so long to do it."

That may be why I have not experienced the hinge effect as of yet. Seems I'm always drawing some of the fat pad into the cylinder and the ring(s) are applied beyond that. On close examination it looks kind of strange but whatever works.

I have a foam sleeve I use sometimes for comfort and it seems to stop the hinge effect also. You don't feel the ring(s) when they snap on and barely when in use. There are some older threads on this site where the use of the sleeve is discussed.

Just to follow up on this.
It was interesting that you mentioned how there was little hinge with the rings being pulled down into the base.

This time when applying the rings, I made sure that I got them as deep into the base as possible. The greatly reduced the hinge effect.
I guess this is as you would expect, but it's amazing how even 1/2 an inch more further down can make such a difference.
Really felt that it was supported and anchored.

I use two rings, Once they were both in place I lifted the 'higher' ring off and over the second ring, thus moving it deeper into the base. This 'stepping' technique is what I shall now use and practice with to get deep in. What a difference! Thanks for your little post that has made my life that bit better! Love this forum
