Re: FIRST Injection nervousness
Yes, I use a 30 gauge 1/2" needle with very little trouble. Don't think I could stand a larger one! I'm right-handed and using the left side is more difficult.
Married for 49 years, 71 year old in Indiana. ED pills no longer effective. No Surgeries. Now on 0.8mL-1mL BiMix (Papaverine HCl 30mg/mL, Phentolamine Mesylate 1mg/mL).

Re: FIRST Injection nervousness
cool, but dont i need a prescription for the syringes? i dont really like that 25 gauge thickness lol. But i read that a 31 can snap, eeeks. my fingers tremble with that dang little syringe. There is no leverage or balance. I know because ive done the gel route. I have not tried an injection on myself yet. The uro gave me a 27 gauge needle and told me to only fill the syringe to .1 mil. I havent needed to inject yet. (to be continued in the All important "relationship" threads!)

I use the 31 gauge without problems. Whether or not you need a script depends on your State of residence. In FL a script isn't needed by State law although I guess some localities might require one. Even when legal to purchase some pharmacies might give you some grief without a script. Your doctor shouldn't have any issue giving you a script if needed.
According to https://www.totaldiabetessupply.com/pages/rx-requirements you do not need a script in Nevada for insulin syringes, which is what most of us use:

Re: FIRST Injection nervousness
Don't worry about a 31 or any other needle "snapping" in normal use. You can prove it to yourself by taking a pair of pliers to a used syringe and bending the needle sharply back and forth — like you would to break a wire.
You'll have to give it around 20 reps of bending before the needle will weaken. Doing this experiment once does great things for your peace of mind.

I buy my syringes from the compounding pharmacy that makes my Trimix. Easy breezy.

Re: FIRST Injection nervousness
i ll check it out. I assume the 31 gauge is a slower delivery and takes a slower plunge push , since its possibly a smaller flow diameter? but i will try a 30 gauge also sometime. Im gonna learn this SKILL if its the last thing i do!! I could discuss these things forever. Great help forum thanks guys!!

Re: FIRST Injection nervousness
I use the 31g needles and greatly prefer them. I use a very strong mono-mix (80mcg.ml alprostabil AKA PGE-1) and rapid injection of the meds hurts. I inject very slowly in little spurts and it's pretty much pain free that way. You can still inject pretty quickly with the 31g if you want.
