First Shot Of Alprostadil

Postby Lonewolf203205 » Fri Mar 06, 2020 2:47 pm

Hello fellow Franktalkers, I might keep this short I might not. So today I went to the Uro for my first injection. The Dr. Gave me a .5 shot of Edex because of my age. (Been suffering from ED, performance anxiety & may leak for almost 10 years) My experience was mehh, this dr. Is always kick em in kick em out which I hate it makes me feel that she is not very concerned but...
Anyhow, it was lackluster I only half a half chub right now as we speak. I asked her to print out a form which she did. The Edex is just way too much and I dont understand why they even start with the high price stuff.
THE QUESTIONS: 1. My dr only perscribe me for edex, its Too Much! Do you think I will have success with another uro? I Want Trimix or Bimix I know its cheaper
2. Do you guys know any Online dr to perscribe & where to shop ? Im in the Bridgeport area of Connecticut.

Thanks guys im looking forward to my confidence getting back.

Many start with Edex or it's competitor as they are FDA approved meds. If the script says Edex then that's all it's good for.

I couldn't afford Edex. I got my doctor to write a generic script for the drug just based on the Edex ingredients but much more concentrated at 80mcg per ml. I get it at a local compounding pharmacy. The pharmacy refers to it as mono-mix. It works well for me. I haven actually tried tri-mix. If your doctor is leery of tri-mix she might go for the generic Edex equivalent of a mono-mix.

Edex comes in 10mcg, 20mcg and 40mcg. All are dissolved into 1ml of saline regardless of strength. It sounds like your doctor injected 1/2 of one of those. Do you know which one? Which strength is your script for? Most doctors will start off conservatively. It's better to have a few failure to launches than an ER vist for a priapism.

Some guys get pain from the active ingredient of Edex, the alprostadil. If you don't then that's a very good thing. That opens up your options.

Good luck.

Hey its 10mcg, so should i call back to see if i can get a generic perscription for penile injections? If i want Trimix?
So my doc wont write perscription for trimix. Says i only need 1 active ingredient. How the heck would she know she injecting me with .5 and only got half chub and sent me on my very way.
Frustrating but you guys think i can shop around for another uro who might perscribe it?

There have been some studies that suggest the single ingredient of Edex, the alprostadil, is less likely to causing scaring or fibrosis than the other ingredients of tri-mix. However, many have no issues with tri-mix. But that may be your doctors thinking that's causing her reluctance to go the tri-mix route.

Talking to your doctor and asking for a generic script is certainly an option. You might not have a problem getting her to write the same ingredient. I actually got my generic script from my GP/PCP. I was on Edex but my insurance quit covering it about the same time my Uro retired. So I brought my Edex package showing the script to my PCP and asked her to write a generic script like it but stronger. I explained to her that it worked but was unaffordable. She has also since retired and I've had to train her replacement.

You would definitely want the generic written a good deal stronger than the Edex 10. You could well end up using 10mcg per shot and even generic would be expensive at that rate at that strength. I have my generic written at 80mcg per ml and I inject about .15ml. I don't want to try and figure out the math at the moment but I think that works out to be a little more than an Edex 10 per shot. I get 10ml of that mix for about $120 so it becomes pretty economical. But then even a 10mcg per ml mix at $120 for 10 ml would still be way cheaper than Edex.

I'm sure if you're set on tri-mix you can find a Uro that will prescribe it somewhere near you.

I think I tried to answer all of your questions, but maybe not.

Good luck.
