I ran out of my cheap Publix branded syringes (31g - 5/16" - 1/3 cc) and had to resort to BD syringes of the same size I had a few of on hand. First let me say I will not dispute the general consensus that the BD brand is of the highest quality. The only thing I'm addressing here is plunger resistance. In my previous experience the BD brand has much greater plunger resistance than the cheap Publix branded one (manufacturer unknown) or Sure Comfort brand, another lower cost brand. This previous experience was reconfirmed yesterday. At least in my case correct needle depth is limited to a fairly narrow range. I determine this correct needle depth by plunger resistance. The BD brand makes my method of determining depth very difficult due to their much greater plunger resistance. I'll take the cheaper ones with the easier plunger any day. Off to Publix I will go because I have to order the Sure Comfort online and I don't order enough to make shipping worthwhile.
Well, that it for my very profound thought of the day.

Re: Syringe thoughts
I have noticed the same resistance. I solved it by moving the plunger up and down a time or two before injecting the air into the vial and then filling. It seems to make a difference.

Been using the 31G 5/16 McKesson insulin syringes since the beginning. Do move the plunger up and down several times before loading and it does seem to work better.

Re: Syringe thoughts
My habit has been to push the plunger down and then pull it up to draw in a little more air than juice needed and then inject the air and withdraw the juice. So basically one down/up/down movement before drawing up the meds. I'll try a few more movements next time I use a BD and see if that helps.

Re: Syringe thoughts
Not sure what could be the better way..... Usually work the plunger up and down several times ...then when the plunger is up a little past my dosage inject the air into the vial downward then turn the vile upside down and withdraw the solution a little past my dosage then push the air out until I see the juice come out the tip of the
needle. Have some concern that the air going in the vial could cause faster deterioration of the juice but so far I don't think it's happened. Have some juice over a year old and still works good.
