So apparently, I'm very sensitive to one of the trimix components, and I convinced my Uro to write me Caverject. Every injection with trimix, even a single unit, has resulted in a trip to the ER.
Finally got the Caverject Impulse 20mcg kit and a 5mcg dose is more than sufficient. Even more important, 90 minutes or so after coming up, my erection goes away.
My only gripe is that following the directions means throwing the remaining 3 doses away! Even with Insurance, each 20mcg kit is between $50 and $110 (insurance covers all but $50 each for 2 kits a month).
I still have the syringes from my unused Trimix and the Caverject Impulse injector rig is such that the medicine could be dispensed into a syringe through the rubber plug just like in an ampule of trimix.
I know that once the medicine mixes with the sterile water in the chamber it begins to break down but certainly it would last a couple days in a syringe in the freezer and let me get a second run later in the week.
Does anybody do this? Are there any giant holes in my theory here?
Thanks in advance. I've already gotten enough help here so far to justify the cost of admission
Splitting Caverject Impulse?
Re: Splitting Caverject Impulse?
Yeah I've done it with the Edex cartridges. I froze the unused portion. I've used it as much as a month later and it seemed to work just fine. I did draw up the unused portion into syringes before I froze it. I just left a little air space in the syringe. Doing this is clearly contrary to instructions. So if you do this and your dick falls off don't blame me.

Re: Splitting Caverject Impulse?
I'm 76 years old, live in Australia and I've been injecting for over 20 years. When I started my Urologist put me on what I recall was Alprostadil which was supplied in a 5ml phial. After that I was put onto Caverject for some years in it's various forms, finally using Caverject Impulse which at the time was expensive. My dose was small and I eventually learned that I could get more than one dose by using a syringe at the bottom of the applicator to draw what I needed rather than a single dose. I used this method for some years until I developed a sensitivity to the Alprostadil component. I then went to a Doctor who specialised in the problem and put me on a mix of Regitine and Papaverine supplied in a phial containing 500 units (I needed less than 10 per shot). this was a great option because it solved the problem, didn't require refrigeration and the dose size was infinitely variable.
Having used injections for many years my personal experience is that use by dates are pretty meaningless, I've used fluid that was up to two years out of date and worked perfectly, originally I was told no more than two shots per week but my current Doctor said there's no particular limit as long as you're comfortable with it and there are no problems. Obviously don't use any fluid that's cloudy.
One side effect after so many years is that I suspect scar tissue has built up along the corpus cavernosa which makes it harder to penetrate at times but has the bonus of making my cock thicker, curvature hasn't been a problem because I alternate the side each time,so there are always swings and roundabouts!!
A small tip for those injecting to ensure the right location is to draw a little blood into the syringe/applicator before injecting to ensure you're injecting into the right area.
I must emphasise that these are my personal experiences after many years.
Hopefully they might give some people an insight into the very long term use of injections!

Healthy 70yo used injectibles for 20 odd years, Alprostadil, Caverject and now a variation of bimix.

How frequently have you been injecting on average over those 20 years? You say that the doctor recommended twice a week at most but have you been injecting that frequently in practice?
If it’s ok I’d like to put your data on the “leaderboard” for total number of injections https://www.franktalk.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18622.

AS you would imagine over such a long period of time it's impossible to know how many shots I've used but I guess it would average somewhere in the vicinty of 1.0 - 1.5 per week which would mean a total of around 1000 - 1500.
Usage would range from a maximum on a few occasions of 5 per week to none, for a range of reasons often due to the health of either partner.
In that time I've never suffered any significant health impacts from their use, certainly I've never needed a visit to the ER or any other professional.
