Pain after injections?

Postby cincyguy » Fri Oct 07, 2022 12:36 pm

Hey all... So I'm very new to injections and need a little help. I got my first injection (trimix) on Monday and it didn't really work. No big deal. Doc said that she started with a very low dose, would get a higher dose, and I could come back in and try again. After the shot on Monday, I got about 50% hard, but afterwards, I was *uncomfortable* for a few hours. I never really got hard, but it was uncomfortable to sit my desk for a couple hours.

Fast forward to today, I went back in for a trial of the trimix at a higher concentration. Worked like a charm, I get a great erection, but I'm feeling uncomfortable again. It's been a few hours since the injection, but it is still uncomfortable to sit at my desk.

So I guess my question is this? Is this discomfort normal? And will it go away, or can I expect this every time I inject?

Thanks!

it may be the alprostadil ache that some guys get. after the first few, i also felt that slight discomfort but i have since either got accustomed to it or it has faded away. been on trimix since feb and has worked great so far.

I ached also initially. It got a little better each time I injected.

I have been on Trimix (a pretty standard strength) for 6 months now, once/twice per week.
As for the intended goal it works great!

Early on the long-lasting side effect was a significant ache, lasting until things went limp ~2.5 hours.
6 months later that ache has diminished to minor discomfort (also gone at 2.5 hours)

At first no pain or soreness from an injection. After about 18 months of using Trimix had to increase my dose and strength. Few more months had to increase dose again, and again. At 60 units my shaft would ache all the next day.

I had a robotic RP 6 months ago for prostate cancer, and the surgeon was only able to spare the nerves on one side, so I am now with ED. Age 67. Started trimix yesterday, I was injected with 0.10 cc of a 20-30-1 solution. Got to about a 50% erection after 15 minutes. Clinician was optimistic. Next week, we will try 0.11 cc. Trial and error.
Yes, it did ache at the injection site for several hours. Fingers crossed that all will go well.

1st What are you doing sitting at your desk with an erection? Assuming you went to doc got an injection went back to work? Having an erection in that situation alone would be uncomfortable. Plus I assume you are dressed with pants. Unlike viaga/cialis injections cause an erection with or without stimulation.
In my (own) experience after taking an injection, it can take 5-6 hours for the penis to fully deflate to flaccid.

2nd Injections can cause a full erection that lasts 1-2 hours (or more). Its not uncommon for your penis to ache from it being filled with blood under pressure of an erection for that long.
Age: 68. Struggled with ED/PE for years.
Used Viagra for 10+ years with mixed success.
In May 2022 started using Trimix with very good results.
Feb 2023 developed PD
2023 still in treatment for PD, and still using Trimix with very good results

Seems most doctors will give you about 1/2 dose that is expected to work to make sure you know how to inject and make sure it produces some kind of result.

Better to start low (units/dosage) than give you an erection that gives you an extended erection that doesn't go down.

I have another question. I am new to trimix. I am still working on getting to the right effective dosage. The problem is that I turn quite red on the side of the penis that receives the injection, which hurts and lasts for several hours. Is this a normal reaction? I am concerned that increasing doses may make the redness worse.

I have only had a small area where I injected welted and turned red. It was a partial misfire where the medication didn’t fully make it in the right spot and seemed to be right under the skin. Looked like a bad bruise for 3-4 days after. That was early when I started injecting but now after so many, that has not happened since.
