Hello, I am no longer satisfied with oral ED meds and want to try the injections before pursuing an implant. Question is - how much do you play for the injections and what is the quantity/how long does it last? Does insurance cover it? Is there a generic for Trimix?
Thank you!!
Cost of Trimix injections? Insurance?
Re: Cost of Trimix injections? Insurance?
idk about other insurances but mine does not cover it since it has to be compounded and because of that i assume most other insurances wont cover it. my cost is about 175 for 4 vials that is supposed to be a 3 month supply but i dont use a large amount so it lasts me months. i started in feb of last year and i am on vial 2 of 4 still. i freeze mine and it lasts even longer. as far as i know there is no generic of any of the ingredients.
50+ yrs old. married 25+ years. hypothyroid, on TRT. 10+ years ED, viagra, cialis now 50% ineffective. now on trimix 2MG phentolamine/30MG papaverine/20MCG alprostadil

Trimix is a generic compound. Cost me $95 CAD for 5 mg vial, which comes out to $3-$4 per injection. Depending on dosage.
Cost compared to Viagra, is almost incomparable. Since Viagra does not work as reliably. And Trimix gives much better erections. with fewer side effects.
I went to urologist whose visit is covered under (Ontario) OHIP.
Regarding cost, Do Not go to a so called "Men's" clinic where they sometimes charge $1500 for prefilled syringes.
Age: 68. Struggled with ED/PE for years.
Used Viagra for 10+ years with mixed success.
In May 2022 started using Trimix with very good results.
Feb 2023 developed PD
2023 still in treatment for PD, and still using Trimix with very good results

I agree with Sogwop.
It’s around $100 for 5ml and it is a helluva lot more reliable than the pills. It’s well worth the money. My insurance wouldn’t pay for it and that didn’t stop me from getting it.
Stay away from the men’s clinics, they are just taking advantage of embarrassed guys that should be going to a urologist. They charge like 5 times more for the medication there. I know that because that’s how I started using it.

I pay $135 for an 8-week supply. My insurance does not cover it. Ape is right - Trimix doesn't have a generic version.
I don't freeze mine and a vial easily lasts 8 weeks at 40F. In fact I've travelled with it warming up to room temperature for 5-6 days and it worked fine. But if you use it as slowly as Ape, you might want to freeze half.
Good advice from sogwap and Keith re mens' clinics.

Age 79 in 2024. On testosterone replacement due to hypothalamus malfunction. (Attention depressed guys: low testosterone is a cause.) Healthy health nut but ED due to getting old. Like to keep enough cardiovascular ability to thrust for 30 min.
Re: Cost of Trimix injections? Insurance?
Trimix is not covered by any insurance that I know of. Some urologists have their own compounding pharmacy where you can buy it and that will probably be the cheapest. Otherwise, there are a couple of places online that sell Trimix. Search posts here for names, I know they have been mentioned but MensRXBuyersClub was one if I remember right.
Keep any vials not being used in the freezer, and the one in use refrigerated. Some guys make up individual needles and freeze those, they thaw in 20-30 minutes.
Home delivery is overnight so it's pricey, and you have to be there to sign for it.

$115 for 10ml. (4 vials of 2.5ml).
I use only 0.1ml (10units). That is good for 100 shots, that is US $1.15 per shot.
Your cost will depend on how much you use per injection (shot).
My insurance does not cover it.
I go to my urologist.

I really appreciate everyone’s input it has been very helpful as I know next to nothing about the injections. Two additional questions I have:
1. How do you travel with the shots (especially when flying)?
2. Is it even possible to not get scar tissue from the injections? I especially worry in a vacation environment where you will be using daily for 5-7 days.
Thanks again!!

First off my prescription says not to use more than 3 times a week. That basically means every other day. I used it for 11 years and I started having scarring. Which are basically tough spots that are harder to inject into. I recently got an implant. If I knew how to avoid it I sure would have. One thing to help is do not inject in the same spot over and over. Which sucks when you find that sweet spot that’s easy to hit. I had a lot of fun with trimix. But it does kind of kill being sexual spontaneously. But I could literally have sex for hours. You can amaze women if you handle it right.
I used a small soft sided cooler that easily fit inside a suitcase or carry on with frozen gel packs. Half the time security pulled me aside to check my carry on. I never wanted to check it in my luggage in case it got lost and ruined my vacation.

Appreciate the info Keith! Just out of curiosity are you not enjoying your implant? I figured being Johnny on the spot would be better than having to inject. I am almost to the point where I am ready just to get it and not worry about the meds any longer.
I never realized there was a “sweet spot” with injecting. I don’t want to develop scaring or Pyronies. Has that affected anything with your implant?
