Issues with 5/16", 31g needle

Postby dtwarren1942 » Thu Jul 04, 2013 12:29 pm

I have a lot of 1/2", 30g syringes left over from my insulin injecting days. Accordingly, this is my usual syringe for injecting Trimix. However, a while back, I purchased ten 5/16", 31g needles because I thought it would reduce the smarting from the injection. They worked well for the first two injections; however, my last two injections resulted in bent needles and subcutaneous injections outside of the corpus cavernosum causing uncomfortable aching lasting a day or two. Significantly more intense than the aching from a properly positioned injection.

I guess my tunica surrounding the CCs is tougher than the average guy'. I either need more practice using the 31g needle or I should revert back to the 1/2", 30 g needle. Unfortunately, the 1/2" needle is so daUnting compared to the 5/16" needle. I guess I am also a candy ass.

A 31-gauge can obviously break more easily than a 29- or 30- gauge, so it probably does require a really good injection technique. I don't have experience with injections as yet, but I do know that Edex cartridges come with 1/2 inch, 30-gauge needles. Additionally, the doctor's prescription blank used by the compounding pharmacy near where I live specifies 29-gauge, 1/2 inch needles (although presumably that could be altered if needed).

Have you tried an auto-injector? I think these are available at most good pharmacies and may make it a bit easier for you. Just a thought.

My uro warned against using any syringe except a 28G 1/2" He said a 30 can bend when being used and result in the medicaion not going into the CC. Also a 1/2 goes further into the CC. What angle do you inject?
