Another new member with questions about Caverject

Postby Snake53UK » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:08 pm

Hi,

I just put an intro with a bit more backgroud up. But my main issue is getting successful with Caverject.

After an operation to resolve a hydrocele I was referred and went to the local ED specialist and got Caverject. No other injectable choices in the UK.

I tested at the ED cinic with 2.5, just some tingling really, I did teh injection myself observed, apparetly OK.

I had some success with two of the first three doses at home, effective in one side of the penis only! 5 and 7.5. When it worked it was actually plenty effective enough to enjoy what we wanted and have some faith this was a sensible route.

So far I have only made 7 injections at home, with those two successes. I was told, try 5 each side, 7.5 each side and 10 each side....only one of the 5s, and one of the 7.5s were as I say effective, thats why I increased the doses.

But then the two 10s were both ineffective, and were the last injections I had of that batch. So I went to my General Practicioner and got some more but got it in 20mcg, and unintentionally it came in phials not the all in one job. So far I have only tried one of these injections, dosed at 15, and still no success. I did feel however I was responding a little positively, but not for a sustainable erection.

OK this is eary days yet but it does not seem sensible to labour on at it for months without seeking help to try an dget it right.

Really, I am not sure my injection technique is any good? The cavernosa seems like a pretty small target to me I felt I had the needle too deep on one occasion and the injection was hard to make, but it flowed easier when I withdrew the needle a little. But now I am not sure if in fact it is deep enough! for example on the last occasion I could feel the fluid from the injection as a bulge.... It did go down with a bit of massage, but is that normal?

All help from experienced guys appreciated.

I have been injecting now for 4 years and after a couple of missed injections early on it is 100% effective every time. The time the erection lasts varies every time(from1 to 3 hours)even though I inject the same amount(.3cc). I only inject one side, I never heard of injecting both sides. I've been told that the two sides are connected and there is no need to do both sides. I alternate side to side each time I do it. You need to make sure you are in the corpus cavernosa. I find that after you go through the skin there will be a little resistance and then the needle will penetrate the corpus. After that it will feel like you are in air(no resistance at all. That's when I know I am in the right place. When I inject there is no resistance on the plunger at all, if there is I know I'm in the wrong place. If I'm in the wrong spot I withdraw the needle a little and try injecting again. If its still hard to inject I withdraw the needle completely and try again. I also constrict the base of my penis to keep the fluid in my penis for a minute or so. It helps to try and shake some blood into your penis before you inject to make it an easier stick. Don't give up, it will be worth it in the long run. Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement Carl, reading back I can see my wording is misleading....on each occasion I am injecting teh whole dose at once into one side of the penis.....what I was trying to say is.....

The ED guy suggested that I should try each dose level, once in the left side, and on the next occasion in the right side, before moving on to a higher dose.

I have only had sucess with the left side so far. But that was enough to think that if I can get this right it will work well. This was using doses at 5 and 7,5 so the confusing part was when the next higher dose (10) failed on the left side as well as the right. So far I have only tried the first dose at 15 on the right....I am alternating as advised.

I think the idea of getting some early blood flow and using some restriction to keep the medication in the cavernosa might be a good idea for me.

I am motivated enough to keep at it until I am convinced it is not for me....plenty of time yet....

Thanks for the advice, which I followed...remember dosages differ UK to US, we use mcgs, I now have 20 mcgs per phial, so this is latest report...

Injected the lot.....woah boy....’Big Success’

20, the whole shot, in left after inflating the penis a little with the pump and using a constriction ring, then injecting and leaving the ring on only until the medication had time to work, rather than being flushed out of the penis too soon..good advice..needle pushed in full depth...had a little blood suck back into syringe! No pain or bruising at injection site. Erection came up in say 10 to 15 minutes and after ring was removed.....

....pity I was solo....but hey ho...good orgasm...

Erection lasted at least an hour and a half at max hardness, remained after I came and even after 4 hours could be returned to reasonable stiffness by some stimulation....but really by then I had had a doze and I was trying to get it to go down....which it did acceptably if I didn’t provoke it ;-) ....but even in the morning it was larger than the normal flaccid state, but soft. There was a little discomfort due to the extreme hardness, but I felt it acceptable...and from my previous trials I know the discomfort will be less during penetrative sex.....

So, good all round test...now we need the same from the right...will use same procedure and full dose....might use a little less on left next time!

Following morning...sensitive and bloodshot eyes, but no worse than a big dose of Viagra...

Snake

I'm having pretty much the same results as you. I just started with caverject on July 10. Did 5 MCG on right side maybe 50% result. Next it was 10 MCG on left and I must have missed as it was no reaction. I think I may I have overshot as my URO told me bury the needle. Its 1/2"just looked at its bag and that would be 12.7 mm for you.Anyway I had it all the way in and pushed a bit more and felt a twinge. Next try was on right side and I think I'm doing Better there as I'm right handed. Injected 10 MCG on right and results just usable. I'd say stuff able but not the hard erection I'm seeking. It lasted total about 1.5 hrs

Think I'm going for 20 MCG next time too. I'm using the vials that you have to mix yourself with sterile water.

Are you happy with your results at 20 MCG?

I have been injecting trimix for years recently I tried caverjet my doctor injected me with 20mcgs, it lasted about 2 hours and gave me about an 80% erection according to the doctor. It also seems to me the right side is more effective although it is recommended to do both sides to cut down on scar tissue caused by the long use of needles. I also suggest using 30 gauge 1/2 inch needles. There is more stinging with the caverjet than with the trimix, the caverjet is also much more expensive. I have had ed problems since my late 40s I am now 68. I also have peyronie disease and had a penile plication about 10+ years ago to correct the curve. I am diabetic Type II which also adds to the problems.

Jim, diabetes seems to be teh whole source of the problem for me.....

Looks like at the moment 20Mcgm is an effective dose, but I feel that a slightly higher dose will give a more satisfactory duration allowing me to be erect for a little while before penetration, right now it feels like....here it is....get in there....not what a woman typically sees as a natural proess....

And if I am going through this as a process we are not looking for a 'quickie', which means we might like a whole experience of pleasurable lovemaking over a couple of hours....but since injecting is a somewhat mechanical medical process we have not yet worked out how best to do that. Probably my wife needs to become comfortable with me injecting in front of her after we have already 'warmed up'. That will be fine as long as it does not just turn her off just before the medication starts to work....experimentation due....

I am pretty sure I would rather use a bigger dose and feel mor able to relax and take time, than run a minimum dose and rush into it.

But with Caverject, yes I can see it is expensive, the pros and cons are, UK National Health will fund for diabetics and other cronic conditions, but only the equivalent of 4 doses per month, but that seems to be at wheatever dose level works for you.

It looks like Trimix could save them a shed load on the medication, and it makes sense it is the drug of choice in North America, but it simply isn't available in the UK. I am guessing that concerns over priapism risk is part of the reluctance, the rest likely being they don't want it to be too easy for us, or more guys will want to try it!

Another injection, same dose, left side, really good for both of us, in fact we just ran into the limitations of my wifes mobility as she recovers from reconstructive achilles tendon surgery....

This time we started our session before the injection, which relaxed us both a lot....did the jab just whilst facing away, but together....

More pleased with this now....it does need confidence, which is only going to build slowly, still need to gain more confidence with right side, then settle on a good dose level.... :)

You will get better with time I do not inject mine in the bedroom, but before 20mcgs last about 2 hours for me. I try to inject about 75-90% middle of the shaft. If it does not flow easy pull back a little until it does. After a while you will get better trust me I have been doing this over 20 years now.
