Experiences on first home injection

Good Morning and an Easy Sunday morning to all.....

Finally did my first Trimix injection at home this past Tuesday. Injected about 30 minutes before my wife came home from work. Injection went well and I achieved what we can call a 70- 80% erection that lasted about an hour and a half. Next injection I will increase from .25ml to .35ml per uro's instruction. One observation is that when I laid down my erection went down quite a bit, but returned (mostly) upon standing. I think I have read that this is common.

My wife's attitude on injecting has been, "Oooohhh! Injection? Where? Well if you want to try it, but won't that hurt?" This is from a nurse who has given a ton of injections, but none in someone's willy. So when she came home on Tuesday from seeing patients (she is a Hospice Nurse for the last 20 yrs) and had relaxed a little, I showed her the results of the injection. I was very pleased, and a little surprised at her positive reaction! "Oh, this is nice. You haven't been this hard in a long time!" was her initial reaction. Then we played a little. Fantastic. We have had a busy week-end so far, but she has tomorrow off so we shall see what happens.

Thanks to all who have posted about their experiences, and the advice that you have given in these forums. Finding "Franktalk", and learning what is available for us who experience ED, has opened up an avenue of treatment beyond pills that I knew very little about. Primary Care Docs know so little about what is available to us.

In my experience that is mostly true. But for me the 'lay down' position that sometimes gives a problem is laying face down on top position (ands going at it) or laying face up (we seldom use that position but just laying there on back sometimes is enough to cause some softening). Both of those can sometimes cause some deflate.
What does that leave you with?? It turns out laying on my right side -- making a spoons position with her behind is really great and seldom causes any deflation.

So give that one a try. Your wife may or may not like it since no face-to-face --but is kinda nice tho.

With my first prescription of tri-mix, I never got a useable erection. With a semi-hard one, I tried 50mg of Indian Viagra and got a very nice one each time.
I didn't want to always have to do that so today I asked the doc for a stronger prescription. He claimed to triple the strength and when I went to the compounder and bought the stuff, it said to mix 1/2 the saline solution (1ml) that I had previously used (2ml) and inject 2 to 4 times more. If I used that dosage, it would cost me between $8 and $16 bucks a pop. I'm pretty sure somebody either fucked up or is trying to fuck me. Sorry for the crudity, but I'm confused. I'm going back to the pharmacy tomorrow and will probably change URO's in any case.

When I told him the previous dosage didn't work, he immediately tried to sell me on implants. WTF?

When I first went to my Uro, he tried a soft sell on an implant also, but was willing to prescribe Trimex first to see if it would work. I guess they don't make much on writing prescriptions and charging for annual check-ups. They make a lot more money with a surgical procedure. I can't blame them as long as it is not a hard sell.

Heh, it's something like $15 - 20,000 for an implant vs. essentially nothing for prescribing Trimix.

They're all assholes nowadays. My uro mentioned getting an implant to me also. I was only a month or two post RP and still leaking piss like a racehorse -- I wasn't even thinking about sex yet.

As he even told me months later, and my neighbor who had a RP in 2000 also told me, it may take at least a year or two for everything to heal to what ever extent that it is going to. I am 15 months out and can get a semi, finally. How much it will improve is anyone's guess, but the fact that he suggested an implant so early made me lose a lot of respect for him, and he's the head of urology at a large hospital in addition to a private practice with 3 large offices.

Any uro suggesting an implant (which apparently a lot of them do) before a year or two should be taken out back and shot for violating the Hyppocratic oath: "I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone."

The world ain't like it used to be.

On the subject of implants: If insurance will cover, then it doesn't hurt to ask. Hippocratic Oath now has to be approved by the AMA, FDA before doctors can 'do the right thing.' My insurance covered uro visit for check-up, but refused for the cc injection. Uro worked with me on cash payment, and will talk to pharmacist about adjusting Trimix if needed. See him in a year.

This past Monday's injection did not go as well as the first one did. For some reason I got very anxious before doing the injection and went into the "cold ocean, shrinking syndrome", and when I finally was able to do the injection I missed the spot. More toward noon, so I withdrew the needle and put pressure on the spot for a few minutes. Second try was closer to 2, but I think some of the "go" juice was lost in the shuffle. Need to get the technique and procedure to be more automatic.
