I'm a 46 year old who had my prostate removed 3 years ago. Since then, my sex life with my wife has pretty much tanked. My wife is very understanding, but I really miss banging my wife! If i am very aroused, i may get a 50% erection and with Cialis i might get up to 75% but not always. I've tried using a pump and my wife says the erection feel different and doesn't really care for it. Plus sometimes i don't stay hard with the pump. My urologist mentioned injections and I'm considering using them.
Questions for you experienced guys:
1. How difficult is it to get dialed in on dosage?
2. How is the erection quality? Is it 18 year old rock hard?
3. How is sensitivity? With the pump, the dick goes numb and i lose some sensitivity.
4. How are orgasms? With the pump, the orgasm feels good to me but it is different. Prior to my surgery, i had very strong orgasms such that my wife would feel them. With the pump, she feels nothing with i come. Is there a possibility for improvement with injections?
5. My doc isn't real concerned about scaring or not being able to get Mr. Happy deflated. He says its generally not a problem for people who don't over dose. Do you agree?
6. Any other advice?
Thanks,
Dave
Newb Considering Injections
Re: Newb Considering Injections
Hi Dave, from my experience, in red:

1. How difficult is it to get dialed in on dosage? It took me maybe 4-5 times.
2. How is the erection quality? Is it 18 year old rock hard? It's very hard, to the point of being unnatural, also shorter, and the head stays soft.
3. How is sensitivity? With the pump, the dick goes numb and i lose some sensitivity. It seems pretty normal as far as that goes.
4. How are orgasms? With the pump, the orgasm feels good to me but it is different. Prior to my surgery, i had very strong orgasms such that my wife would feel them. With the pump, she feels nothing with i come. Is there a possibility for improvement with injections? I don't notice much difference except for the lack of ejaculate.
5. My doc isn't real concerned about scaring or not being able to get Mr. Happy deflated. He says its generally not a problem for people who don't over dose. Do you agree? My first time at home, after the doc gave me a light dose, was not pleasant. I used the dose she said but it was too much, I stayed hard for about 5 hours and it ached like hell. I had Sudafed on hand but it didn't help any because they were timed-release. I now keep fast-acting on hand and they seem to work pretty good.
6. Any other advice? Be glad you have a wife, lol. Being single and trying to start a new relationship like this totally sucks.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Newb Considering Injections
I agree with most of what Andy said.
I think injections work a bit differently for each of us.
After injecting, we have sex as soon as it's hard enough to enjoy.
I don't have a soft glans problem, but have also not had prostate problems except for it being swollen.
I am having problems ejaculating, but it's a mixed problem.
We usually rest up and when we are ready again the erections are very hard like in the old days.
I still have a hard time ejaculating, but it's usually fun to try, and usually get there eventually.
Good luck with your journey and there's a wealth of info here.

Re: Newb Considering Injections
Took me four attempts slowly increasing the dose from 25 units to 45 units before I got the desired 1.5 to 2 hour erection. I was then able to gradually reduce the effective dosage down to 15 units. After a year, I had to slowly increase the effective dosage to 45 units to be effective.
I find the erections to be around 90% and that orgams are more difficult to achieve. However, I am a 71 yo diabetic which may play into the quality of my erections/orgasms.
I find that pumping and sliding on an Osbon tension band provides me with a harder erection than injecting, but start to loose sensitivity after 10 minutes or so.

Dave, one more thought:
Being drug-induced instead of nature-induced, your dick won't pay any attention to what's going on in your mind.
After I orgasm my dick stays just as hard, instead of going down as nature intended. Mentally I have lost interest in sex, like we're supposed to, but I have an annoying hard on to contend with for the next couple hours.

I guess we we all react differently. When and after I orgasm, my erection immediately starts to fade into a semi which I can occasionally work back into an erection if needed.
