I read posts here from guys who say they have erections that last 2-3 hours. My doctor told me that if I have a stiff erection for more than two hours, take a cold shower. If more than three, go to the hospital emergency for an injection of sudafed.
I read other posts from guys who've experimented with upping the dosage. My doc says to stick with what I tested in his office.
I read yet other posts from guys who take Viagra and do injections at the same time. My doc says no, as both do the same thing and I could wind up at the hospital emergency room.
So who's right?

Re: Some posts here contradict what my doctor says
Apparently, my ED is more difficult to be treated than others. I take 20 mg of daily Cialis, and when I anticipate sex, I take 50 mg of Viagra and inject 45 units of Trimix. My Uro did raise his eyebrow when I informed To him of my routine and cautioned me of possible problems. However, I am still only able to achieve a 1 hour erection and sometimes at less than 90%. I believe the underlying cause and severity of your ED determines how you react to the ED meds.
Best advice is to start slowly and build up the dosage of each of the meds until you achieve the desired results.

I think Uro Docs are very afraid of being sued and err sometime too much on the side of caution.
I feel it's my body and I probably know more about what's going on with it than a doc or a lawyer.
Sorry to be so blunt. I take 25mg Viagra a couple hours before injecting and usually have a nice semi target to shoot at.
I can be hard and not so hard for several hours and it's not painful, so I don't worry too much. When I get up and dressed, it goes down and that's how my experience is.
As far as upping the dosage, Your body will tell you if the dosage he recommends is sufficient. I can't believe that it is right, right off the bat.
If you up the dosage, do it in small steps and the same with using orals along with the injections.

I took 10 units at home which my doc's sweet young nurse recommended after she shot me up with 5 units and I got a semi. It was way too much and I had an aching hardon for over 4 hours. It was NOT fun.
Heat, ice, exercise, jerking off made no difference whatsoever. I had Sudafed tabs on hand and they didn't help at all. What I found out later was that they were timed-release and I should have gotten fast-acting, which I now keep on hand and they DO work.
It was after about four hours (2:00 or later in the morning) that I noticed it getting slightly better so I let it go rather than drive to the hospital. It all worked out okay but I DO NOT want to go through that again.
I have ended up at 6 units, seems about right, although as I've stated elsewhere, there is nothing natural about it.
RP in 2012 because of prostate cancer. 100% ED, also some leakage problems.

Good morning,
In my case the Dr. told me the initial shot was a 1/2 dose starting point. After examining me he noted a had a response but limited & set the parameters - 1/2 to 1 cc of PGE 1 20 mcg . Instructions from his office was to slowly increment dose as needed till results satisfactory. Once I reached the full amount and was not happy he upped the strength to 40 mcg & approved me to take 10 mcg oral Staxyn before injecting if desired(. I'm sure Viagra or Cialis would have been fine too however he just happened to have me on this newer drug.) I went to inject 40 mcg @ .5 cc & WOW , lift off. There was no need to bump it with an oral. I went 2 hrs or better & the next morning I had serious tumescence without rigidity upon waking. I mean I was totally pleased & will likely dial back to .3 or .25 which of course is outside and under the low limit set by Dr. This flexibility is what sets shots ahead of orals.
