Injections losing effectiveness after only 5 months; question about increasing amount in such a short period of time....
Re: Injections losing effectiveness after only 5 months; question about increasing amount in such a short period of time
I've found that when preloading syringes, especially if freezing them but anytime they will be preloaded for more than a half hour or more, I leave some air space. Not for expansion when freezing. It's because sometimes the plunger can take a set when it sits with meds in it. That will cause extra resistance to the initial plunger movement when you go to inject. By leaving a little air space you get to push past the set by expelling the air. Of course it's wise to position the syringe so that the air will remain at the needle end.

Update:: I increased my dose by a small amount (my dose was always really small so I went from from .9 to 1.2) and it's working much better like it did before. Only concern there is wondering if the need for a dose increase is an indicator of building up scar tissue. But glad to be back in business for the time being.

This discussion is very helpful. I'm awaiting my first TriMix delivery any day now. It makes a lot of sense to me to pre-fill a few syringes and then freeze them. For one, it seems like they would thaw more easily than the entire vial. I was thinking that pre-loaded syringes might be subject to bumping that would accidentally dispense some of the medicine but keeping them frozen would mitigate that risk.
