Just starting?

Postby HLB52111 » Tue May 19, 2026 11:12 am

Hi guys. Hope I am doing this correctly. Computers/Ipads are not my friend. Uro Doc just prescribed an injection script for me. Contacted Web MD Monday morning. They are compounding script two doses this time. So I guess the check is in the mail so to speak. Hope the instructions are clear. Here suffered a traumatic brain injury almost 14 years ago and my memory not so good. Any tips for a first time user? I’m thinking Uro Doc should demonstrate first time use. Maybe I could view something on YouTube?
Will be back with more questions.

Welcome to our forum. Good luck with the injections.
I suffered with ED for over 30+ years. Tried pills, worked for awhile, then combination of pills, also work for awhile, then injections also work. Thought I found something to save me, but faded out after a year or so. Then even a combination of pills and injection, even tried a different injection med.
Finally back to the urologist for more help. He suggested the implant, and within a month or so I got an implant AMS700LGX. It works. Wife even likes to ride it cowgirl style.

We're loving it.
74, ED 25+ yrs, 2 Prostate surgeries. can't ejaculate, but great Orgasms
Tried Viagra, TRIMIX, CaverJet Inj, then nothing worked. Contacted another Urologist, Dr Kansas, Austin TX. Implanted an AMS700LGX: 18cm x 12mm w/2cm rte, 3/26/24.
So far so good.

Your doc should be the first option but you can find plenty of demonstrations on YouTube. Look at them all over and over. If you didn't also get an Rx for injectable phenylephrine as the antidote, proceed very very slowly and carefully. Titrate up from a smaller dose than is prescribed.

Since you didn't mention it, I'll assume you did not get phenylephrine. In that case, a not-nearly-as-effictive alternative is pseudoephedrine (brand Sudafed) but only the real stuff that you have to ask the pharmacist to give you from behind the counter. So-called "Sudafed PE" on the shelf is worthless. After a couple of hours if the little guy won't go down, pop 120mg (usually 4 × 30mg) and prepare to go to the ER when you hit 4 hours. Some people find that squats or other leg exercises help to move the blood from your penis to the legs.

A couple of hints that help me: to prep for the injection: 1) plump up your penis to get as much blood into the cavernosa as your ED will accommodate - this makes hitting the target with the needle much easier; 2) after the shot, tighten your fingers around the base to prevent the medicine from immediately leaving where you want it; 3) for each shot, move the target up & down and at either the 2 or 3o' clock position (same on the other side); I prefer a 31 gauge needle, 5/16 (8mm) long to hit the target; 4) an advanced technique after you are comfortable with the routine is to aspirate (draw back out) a small amount of blood that virtually guarantees you have hit the cavernosa - you look at the syringe to verify some blood and then push the whole contents back in.

Remember that the stick does not hurt so do not be afraid. It's nearly impossible to actually hurt yourself.
