Trimix results erratic

Postby wgs743 » Mon Dec 05, 2016 1:02 pm

It has been about 15 years since I started having erection problems. I am now 73. I started on Viagra 50mg in 2000, and it worked fine. Insurance covered cost, but even when they stopped paying, Viagra was only US$7.50 each. Found out that 50mg and 100mg Viagra were same price, so got a pill splitter. After about 8 years, I started having episodes when it failed after being hard a few minutes. So I started taking full 100mg. After another 5 years, I found that it worked sometimes, but not others. Also tried Cialis and Levitra.
The strange thing was that it did not work like 3 times out of 4, but I would go a couple of months when Viagra 100 would not work at all. Then it would be good for a few months. This cycle went on for two years. We have been married for over 50 years, but unreliable results were causing a strain on both of us. We were about to give up trying. I explained this to family doctor, who sent me to a Urologist.
I got my first injection of Trimix in January, 2015. Dosage was 0.30mg. Got the best erection ever. Problem was, it was rock solid at 4 hours, so off to emergency room. In case you do not know, they drain blood from the penis and inject norepinephrine. Kind of humiliating to explain what happened to several doctor, nurses and staff, while waiting for my urologist to get to the hospital.
A week later I got an injection of 0.10mg trimix. Got fat but not hard enough for sex. We were going on long trip and I did not want to go to a foreign hospital if things went wrong. I went back on Viagra and argenine. Surprisingly, that worked fine until Fall, 2015, when it was back to nothing for 2-3 months. Went to urologist for another issue and he encouraged me to try trimix again. He said that I just needed to find the right dosage. He started me on 0.15mg of 30/1/30. That worked for about 6 months starting Nov, 2015. By Spring, my erections were lasting longer each time. When it got to nearly 5 hrs, I decreased the dose by 0.01 each time, and found 0.12 worked fine. My uro said that is common because blood vessels have been opened up by repeated injections. Even 0.11 worked. About 6 weeks ago 0.11 did not do anything. Thought it might have been wrong spot so tried again 2 days later. Nothing. The doctor had warned me not to inject too often and trimix can stay in your system, so I waited a week and tried 0.12 which got big, but not hard. I am up to 0.14 about every 5-6 days for the past month and results are great. Rock hard for about 45min, then big but flaccid, and down to normal in 2 hours. Yesterday it took over 3 hours to go down completely. Weird thing is that it goes down a few minutes after sex but may become hard again 15 min after going flaccid. I’ll try 0.13 next time. At least with trimix, I can adjust the dosage. Still hoping to find a dosage that works well each time. I have to wonder if on again, off again experiences with Viagra are related to dosage changes with Trimix.
Has anyone else experienced such erratic behavior with Viagra or Trimix? If so, did you find out what caused it? Did it make any difference how many days between injections? Diet, exercise, stimulation?
Trimix is really cheap – about US$3.00 per injection at my dosage compared to genuine Viagra at about $40 per pill. Why aren’t more guys using it? Erratic behavior? Fear of injecting yourself, or they just don’t know it exists?

Not sure what your concern is. If you can get a satisfactory erection sufficient for sex, then what happens after should be of much less *concern*. My erections last 5hrs...and I can't get the duration time down, or it results in less than an initial optimal erection.
I have no concerns on the 5 hr duration. Priapism is defined by drug co as an erection greater than 6 hrs ...less is defined as a *prolonged erection*. Resolution of priapism should take place within 2 hrs of priapism limit (total 8 hrs)..that's why drug co want you to use the *4 hr* cut off in order to provide a very wide safety margin and allow time for treatment. It's basically to cover their ass legally.
Getting the *treatment* you had in less than 6hrs time is an unnecessary procedure...at least in my humble opinion. I have had multiple erections lasting up to 6 hrs (no pain) with no consequences whatsoever. Just my take...decide what's best for you.

As far as erratic outcomes..hard to say. There's always some variability. I had a *no go* once and after waiting 1/2 hr, I reinjected with the same dose close to the first injection site and got a response with no consequences.

Wgs,

If you are not missing the shot to cause missed erections then the only other things I can think of is Anxiety causing deflation or variable success ... or maybe some kind of cardio/circulatory issue. If cardio it would be very strange that it comes and goes... Usually if you are getting poorer circulation it just gradually gets worse.

Maybe time to start hitting the ol treadmill instead of the missus ..?

Rahod1,
I hope my question is not too personal, but how often do you inject? How long have you been getting erections that last 4 hours or more? If you have been injecting for awhile with no consequences, maybe I should stop worrying about trips to the ER, and go with dose that is reliable.
The act of sticking myself is not an issue for me. If I am anxious, it is due to making sure I hit the right spot and/or memories of the ER.
In answer to Jimstars, I get about 2 hours of exercise, 5 or 6 days a week. My medical labs are better than 20 years ago. One of my incentives for the exercise is to stay healthy and attractive enough for sex. That is what has been so frustrating. But, it may be circulation issue in the groin area.
Thanks to both of you for kind replies

I average every 10 days and I have had 5 hrs duration from the beginning (7 months so far). I sensed that you were stressing over duration (over 4 hrs)...and I think this issue has been way overblown. I did a lot of *research* and to be honest...the *LINE IN THE SAND* as far as possible damage is closer to 12 HOURS!! I don't think you'll ever find a case where permanent damage has occurred with an 8hr erection...let lone a 10 hr one. I have never lasted more than 6 hrs...so I no longer stress over it. It's really too bad that people are going in at 4 hrs and receiving unnecessary procedures and spending$$$$ to boot!
Having said all this, the final decision is yours and yours alone..I'm not an MD (trying to cover the liability issue).
