How long and how frequently have you been injecting?

I'm in my mid-30s and I've been using alprostadil injections for about a year now after having a serious side effect from Viagra/Cialis.
I use about 50mcg (50 units of 100mcg/mL solution) 2-3 times per week for this past year. I guess that would work out to about 130 total injections. I usually rotate between 4 injection sites. I am concerned that this may be a higher dose and frequency than many may be using. I am also concerned that despite using thin needles, I may have developed a slight upward curvature of the fully erect penis.

I'm curious about other people's injection frequency, dosages, total injections, and whether they've noticed any thickening/fibrosis. Thank you very much!

I've been injecting for just over 2 years following radical prostatectomy in Dec 2014. When I first started I injected at least 4 times weekly. I wanted to have physiologic erections with arterial blood to keep the smooth muscle and endothelium of my penis healthy. Sex was only 2 times weekly. After about a year I started getting nocturnal erections which are required to keep the erectile tissue healthy. At that time I cut down to 2 times weekly for intercourse.

I would estimate in the 2+ years I've been injecting I have injected myself 350 times. I have some fibrosis on one side of my penis that is not significant. I believe the fibrosis is from the 2 month period of no erections following surgery until I started to inject.

I have been on trimix about 18 months. Inject about 5-6 times a month. No noticeable side effects. Does not always work for me, but trimix works much better than Viagra or Cialis and much lower cost. If you are using Edex or Caverject, you might want to ask about trimix as it is cheap. I pay $85 for 5x1ml vials. At my dosage that works out to about $4 a shot including syringe and wipes.

Uro said trimix can build up in my system and give me a 10-12 hour erection. You said you have done about 500 injections over 3yrs, 8mos. Have you ever had erection last over 5 hours?

Trimix will NOT build up...it's fully metabolized within 10 hrs or so...certainly by 24 hrs.
I get erections lasting 5-6 hrs...but it's not hard as a rock at the 5 hr mark. Also very little pain and *bendable* at that point.
Trust me...you don't have to go to the ER at 5 hrs if you're still erect (but bendable).
I wouldn't make a habit of injecting within 24 hrs, but on occasion it can't hurt either. I would say 3 times a week should be the max average. Personally, I'm at 4 times a month (age 70).

I figure I only go around once in this life and as long as Barb is agreeable, I'm all in.
BTW, I've never came close to a 5 hour job.
I know it's not typical, but I always soften after intercourse. If it later gets up, I get up and it goes down.

It's always seemed to me that the biggest variable on Frank Talk is the injection frequency recommended by various uros. My doc is OK with once a day. I know that others specify intervals ranging all the way out to no more than once a week. And at the other extreme are a few posts on here where guys talk about occasionally indulging in nighttime lovemaking followed by morning delight — an eight hour interval. I've done it once or twice without problems.

In reply to Once A Writer, it is frustrating that there is no consistency on frequency of injections and how long an erection lasts. Even my uro has given different answers at times. good to know that guys have been doing injectiions frequently for a long time with no issues.
