Injection before Implant
Injection before Implant
I was reading my surgery report for my implant 10 days ago. It started with noting I was injected before the procedure after being anesthetized. It states that a "firm, rigid, straight erection occurred". I find that interesting. Several years ago I made three trips to a men's clinic where they tried a different injection mix on me all three times. I only achieved a limp partial hard on all 3 times and gave up on the idea of injections. I'm curious as to why it worked when I was unconscious? I recall at the clinic I was put off by having two techs hang around in the room each time afterwards to observe. They pointed out the men's magazines I could look at if I wanted. I had no motivation to get aroused with observers. Now I'm wondering if there is some new mixture I could have tried before being implanted. Too late now though.
Became DaveKell 2.0 on July 18th with Dr. Allen Morey in Dallas, TX. AMS 700 CX implant. 18cm with 5.5 RTE's.
Re: Injection before Implant
There are a number of factors that could account for that:
different ingredients and different ratios used
different strength of each ingredient
different dosages (amount)
technique of injection (e.g. location, depth)
other health conditions (e.g. medications, health condition at each time)
other possible factors

ED many years, failed PDE5i, on Trimix but recently needing large increasing strengths and doses

YIKES! Too late now, of course. But I am sure you would liked to have known if injections were a possible solution for you. Maybe you would have gone on with implant surgery anyway, but at least you would have had full information. One thing I have found is that a lot of surgeons just want to do the surgery so they can collect the big check from the insurance company. That is why some of them won't spend a lot of time discussing alternatives such as injections. It seems in your case that you went from the failed attempts at a men's clinic to implantation.
A proper dose of Trimix should work when you are awake, or in your case, asleep. It takes a while for some people to get the knack of injections. Some guys have success the very first time while others spend up to a year with different dosages and learning to inject properly. Not beating you up on this, but you threw in the towel pretty early after just three attempts.
The good news is that with the implant your ED days are over. You're bionic, which is a much more effective solution than the needles. Keep us posted on your recovery.
I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.
Re: Injection before Implant
I wonder what they inject with?
Maybe only PGE1, not trimix. That may work better in high doses, but hurts like hell if we did it awake.... I am just speculating.
If the patient is unconscious then pain is not an issue.. The Dr. can inject whatever they want, and in super high doses to ensure the result. Not sure how they de-erect after that, but maybe another injection.
When we use Tri-Mix it is for another purpose. Not for measuring which takes 10 seconds.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

Re: Injection before Implant
I use PGE1 (Alprostadil) at a high concentration. I don't inject in one quick push. I inject with 4 or 5 pushes with a couple of seconds between each push. Seems to alleviate the pain that way. One reason I don't do an Autoject.
R.R.P 2011 Mayo Jacksonville, Dr. M. Wehle. Not nerve sparing. C in margins. Radiation 2023, V.E.D, Viagra and PGE-1 (80mcg/ml) injections @ 8 - 14 units. Originally Edex20, then compounded PGE due to cost. Inject. 12 yrs. It works. Treasure coast of FL.
Re: Injection before Implant
Dave,
I am scheduled for my implant surgery on Sept. 18th. I have talked to my surgeon an read as much as I can find on the topic. It is common to create an artificial erection at the onset of the surgery so the surgeon can see your natural erect length and see whether you have any curvature he needs to be aware of or concerned about.
In my case I used injections for a couple years for my ED. Sometimes they worked to give me an erection and sometimes they did not. Even when tit worked, it didn't stay hard for sex. Later I found out from a Penile Doppler test that I have a substantial venous leak. I had always used the injections to achieve an erection for sex and sex involved moving into different positions. The movement caused the blood to flow back out of my penis. I can stay hard a long time if I don't move and am in a specific position laying down. That doesn't help me though because even the movement of masturbating causes me to lose it.
My point is if you are in similar situation, you were laying still during surgery so the surgeon's injection may have worked effectively because you were in a position where the blood flowed to your penis and stayed there.
Best wishes with your recovery and enjoy your new abilities.
