Shelf Life of Tri Mix
If refrigerated properly what is the shelf like of Tri-Mix
Re: Shelf Life of Tri Mix
I don't use tri-mix. I use a mono-mix of alprostadil also known as Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) which is generally considered to be the most potent ingredient of tri-mix. It is also by far the ingredient that degrades the fastest. I keep my mix frozen. I've used mix that has been kept frozen for 6 months with only a little degradation in potency.
R.R.P 2011 Mayo Jacksonville, Dr. M. Wehle. Not nerve sparing. C in margins. Radiation 2023, V.E.D, Viagra and PGE-1 (80mcg/ml) injections @ 8 - 14 units. Originally Edex20, then compounded PGE due to cost. Inject. 12 yrs. It works. Treasure coast of FL.

Many of us here report successfully using standard Trimix that is several months past the stated expiration. One guy reported using Trimix that was 14 months old. Over time Trimix loses some of its potency, but it may still work.
The good thing is that there apparently is little risk in injecting outdated Trimix. Either the medicine will work, not work as effectively, or not work at all.
As for the stated "shelf life" -- that is usually governed by laws in your state. In Florida, if I remember correctly, the stamped expiration date is 45 days. I pay no attention to that and keep using my Trimix until it fails. Please consult with your urologist and the laws in your state for further insight.

I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.

I agree w/cigar.
Froze mine for 9 months...used it...like new
Asked a pharmacist and was told that cycling freezing/thawing is not a good idea as it degrades some each time.
Emphasis on "some" . Discoloration and crystalization is a sign to renew. Also that the expirations are VERY conservative for obvious pharmacy risk reasons.

I actually think the short expiration dates are the work of the pharmecutical lobby. Shorter recommended expiration dates help them sell more of the product. It's that simple.
