Can someone tell me the formula for TriMix that TriCare for Life will approve for reimbursement?
I submit the paperwork and they kick it back saying there are one too many ingredients. The crazy thing about it is the last one is water.
Also, does the VA Pharmacy provide TriMix?
Thanks for your help. old42

Re: Tricare and Trimix
Oldie42----Normally, I would send you a PM to help you with this issue, but since Tricare for Life is pulling this same BULL SHIT with other veterans, including myself, I am going to post on the regular forum. Here is the story and what to do:
Whether or not Tricare approves and pays all depends on how the pharmacy submits the claim. I use a compounding pharmacy in Los Angeles, (Rancho Park Compounding Pharmacy). My first order sailed through and I had my order in hand in 3 days from ordering. I submitted a refill to the same pharmacy and it took almost 3 months to get my juice. The pharmacy submitted all the ingredients seperately to Tricare, which included the sterile water and another ingredient that kills bacteria. It was turned down because Tricare said these two items were not covered AND they tried to say the pharmacy was not on their approved list of pharmacies. Between myself and the pharmacy we kept contacting Tricare. FINALLY, the pharmacy got in touch with someone at Express Scripts, the pharmacy Tricare uses, told the pharmacy exactly how to submit the claim. The pharmacy submitted the claim as instructed (I believe they only listed the 3 main ingredients), the claim was approved and I had my juice two days later.
Unfortunately, it's a crap shoot. Your approval all depends of how the pharmacy files the claim and who works the claim at Express Scripts. So, here is what I have told other vets who have had the same issues with getting their Trimix: Call my pharmacy, you can find the pharmacy, address and phone number on the internet, tell them you are a veteran who needs trimix and are having problems getting the claim approved with Express Scripts. You may also use my name if you want to (PM me and I will give you my information). They may tell you to have your pharmacist contact them so they can work directly with each other to get your order approved.
Another vet that had the same issues did what I told him to do and once his pharmacy submitted the claim he had his juice in just a few days. Again, it's all dependent on how the claim is submitted to Tricare.
Good Luck and let me know what happens.
The Duck.

Re: Tricare and Trimix
FOLLOW-ON TO ORIGINAL POST: On Monday the 28th I called into my compounding pharmacy a refill for my trimix. I was notified by the pharmacy yesterday the 29th that they had been paid by Tricare and my juice will be shipped today and will arrive at my door tomorrow. So, as I have said before, if you are a veteran and trying to get your trimix or other medications through Tricare, getting it approved and paid for depends on how your pharmacy presented the claim to Tricare. TELL THEM TO NEVER LIST EACH AND EVERY COMPONANT OF THE MIX, ONLY THE MAIN ENGREDIENTS! IF THEY LIST THE STERILE WATER AND ANTIBACTERIAL AGENT IT WILL BE TURNED DOWN!
IF ANY VETERAN IS HAVING PROBLEMKS GETTING THEIR STUFF THROUGH TRICARE, CONTACT ME BY PM AND I WILL TRY AND HELP YOU SORT OUT THE ISSUE. I DON'T GUARENTEE WE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL, BUT WE WILL GIVE IT A HELL OF A TRY!
