Re: Long-Term Injecting Damage?

Hello.

After having prostate cancer surgery, I have been using Trimix injections for six and a half years.
I started off using Caverject, but discontinued that due to the cost, and also the Alprostadil induced pain.
Since starting with Trimix, I have used 1150 injections, averaging one every second day. I don't count the shots, but know that I have used 11.5 boxes of 100 syringes. I was using BD brand 31 gauge, 8mm long. My experiences are as follows:

1. After about 150 injections, I developed a slight upward curve. I freaked out a bit due to the internet full of gloom about Peyronie's disease. Notwithstanding this I continued on, but the curvature did not worsen, so I relaxed. Now, 6 years later, the curvature has actually improved and is no longer of any concern.

2. The first 1000 injections were pretty good with a high success rate like 95% or better. Then a strange thing started happening. About half of the injection attempts resulted in the plunger of the syringe being impossible to push down, and often I had to withdraw the needle and insert again. After a while I realised what was happening - the 500 or so injections each side had formed like a membrane layer of scar tissue at needle length depth, and when the tip of the needle reached that scar tissue it blocked the end and made injecting the trimix impossible. Then a few months ago when buying new syringes I bought 6mm long needles instead of 8mm, the new normal for insulin injections. That has solved my problem for now because the needle pulls up short of the scar tissue layer, but I suppose is forming a new layer at a shallower depth.

3. The other thing that is not damage related, but worth mentioning. I started off using 5 units of a basic strength mix with great effect, but now need twice as much of a mix 4 times stronger, so effectively 8 times the original dose.

Still going strong.

Nice report. 8-) But could give us your current mix in strength? Look at my sig, below.
TRIPLE P SUPERMIX (30-2-50)
Papaverine 30mg/ml - Phentalomine 2mg/ml - PGE1 50mcg/ml
(+ 0.15mg/ml Atropine)

So you're using 10 units of that mix? Pretty strong. I'm currently using 14 units of a 80mcg per ml alprostadil mono-mix. I'm happy to say I've been pretty steady at that dose for a fairly long time. For solo 7 to 8 units is plenty.
R.R.P 2011 Mayo Jacksonville, Dr. M. Wehle. Not nerve sparing. C in margins. Radiation 2023, V.E.D, Viagra and PGE-1 (80mcg/ml) injections @ 8 - 14 units. Originally Edex20, then compounded PGE due to cost. Inject. 12 yrs. It works. Treasure coast of FL.

Yep, 10 units is the bare minimum. If I want something nice and hard I go for 12 to 13 units, which is pretty much a 10 times stronger dose than I was using 6 years ago. I gradually had to increase the units, then when the units were double or so, I doubled the formula and went back to the original units. Then later doubled again. Always having to gradually increase the dose, sort of like up 10% every month or two to stay in the game. But has levelled off over the last 6 months, so I am happy.
