Cigar 56 and all:
In Response to the “Perfect Erection”, my thoughts are there are at least three characteristics of an erection. First, lengthening and thickening, second, elevation and third what I call longitudinal stability. Of the three, longitudinal stability is most important to us. The lack of stability is what drove us to decide to get the implant.
As few us us are still in our 20s, I am afraid a perfect erection is a fond, but distant memory. At 76 I am very happy with a serviceable erection. The implant gives us that. It eliminated the hassle of pumps and injections and their inconsistent results. Now with a dozen or so squeezes of the bulb, it is up for a long as either of us likes.

Thanks Surfguy. I think your observation is spot on. I guess the old saying, "suitable enough for penetration" should be the guideline -- whether a guy sticks straight out at 90 degrees or something less.
I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.

Nice take, Cincinnatus. I am on injections now but still thinking about an implant. I could become bionic in the next year or so. We'll see.

Cigar: Good luck with the decision process. If you are able to get an erection with pumps, pills and/or injections and you can manage the hassle and lack of spontanity, I'd hold off on the implant. once they get you on "combination therapy" (two or more of the above), you'd probably better start thinking implant. I had mine done in January of this year and we are both very happy with it.

PS one characteristic of an erection that I forgot is predictable and consistent duration.

Re: What's Your Definition of an Erection?
It is for the "spontaenity" (predictable) erection that I should like an implant. But I'm scared to death because my understanding is that the cavernosa have to be scooped out to make way for inserting the device (the final frontier)! The P.S. you added is a major aspect of the definition of an erection ...

oowright:
Kinda depends on how bad your ED is. After agonizing for several months, we finally concluded, it isn't working now so what do we have to lose? They don't really scoop out the cavernosa, they dialte it. The process is pushing a dialtor hin both directions to make room for the cylinders. It is true that the procedure essentially destroys the ability of the cavernosa to support a normal erection. Therefore, you will have to rely on the implant for the rest of your life. Take a look at the internet and you can watch the procedure. kramer has a number of them
