I didn't think to ask my urologist why, but both the initial injection at his office and at the followup, he suggested it. I do know that I missed getting into the corpus several times when injecting at 9 and 3. My guess is that I didn't go deep enough, because those 3-4 times the plunger was hard to push and/or I got a bubble under the skin (also indicating I didn't get through). By injecting at 10:30/1:30, I had better control of the syringe (I have a gut so it's difficult to see) and could more easily feel the piercing of the tunica. If you look at anatomical views of the penis, the corpus can be closer to the skin at 10-11 o'clock than at 9, so that may be another reason why I missed.

An important note - don't go higher than 11 o'clock as the blood vessels and nerves travel along the very top.

That was something I thought about some time ago. Going to try that. For some reason I seem to get better results on the my right side. There, it doesn't seem to matter where I inject. On the left, I have *missed* only a couple times....usually closer to the base.

Yeah, my uro told me to inject slowly so that I can feel the tunica, and if I can't push the plunger, withdraw the syringe and move a little bit. It took a few injections for me to have the courage to stick myself twice - AND go slow. Granted, the poke hurts only a tiny bit, but it took me a few pokes to overcome my fear. But the success of the injections after changing my location / technique convinced me.

If you have read some of the responses lately on the best spot for injection you should realize that you can really inject from close to base right up to area below glan (circumcision area)---> on both sides of penis. Absolutely no BEST location for everyone but its nice to know you have multiple locations to inject. And some are better than others per each individual.

Just injected @ 11:00 vs 9:00 on the left side ,which was less consistent than right, and got a much BETTER response...very quick and robust.

Cool! So your results and mine are similar! But I agree with Leesburg - not everyone is the same anatomically. So the best advice is to try what your doc recommends, and if it doesn't work, move up on the "clock" and/or closer to the glans and try again, and don't get discouraged.

One thing that might never have come up in your mind when injecting is: after plumping up as much as you can, instead of holding by glans straight out, swing it 90 degrees to the left or to the right flat against pubic bone/thigh. Just hold in down with minimum stretching out.

That way you have a little 'workbench' to keep it steady and also the cavernosum on the injecting side will be a little plumper and bulging. You can see the veins easier and you are not really stretching/pulling so much -- just holding it down flat.

All in all it will be much easier to see what you are doing and to inject. Not sure if that works if you have a gut getting in the way of the view, but it works fine for me -- no gut.

Jstars you have been making this recommendation to different forums since 2012 at least - and its a good one. Many men find it best to lay the penis along one leg while injecting, without pulling the penis. For those who find it difficult to inject on left side this will help.

I think you are not getting the needle into the cavernosa. Suggest you go back to the uro and have him/her watch you inject so they can let you know.
I have injected roughly 375 times over 2.5 years. Only missed once....only failed to get erection that same time. i use alprostadil.
