Hi Phil65, et al,
This is my first post after snooping around here for about a month, I have learned a lot, thank you to all who share their experiences. I promise to do the same as I too am trying to figure out the best approach for me.
I am 75 yrs old, 5’7” and 170 pounds, I never had any health issues other than some mild respiratory inflammation which inhalers have taken care of, married 53 years and have always had a great sex life leaving us both satisfied. If I had any complaint it would be that I cum to fast, but I think I am close to normal from what I have read, average about 2 mins of really getting it on after say a 1/2 hour of playing.
I was on Viagra/Cialis for about 10 years about 7 years ago, those are estimates because I am terrible at determining what happen in what year...I envy that ability.
I blame a lot of my problems on an Internist we had been using, he was actually a terrible doctor and had a bad reputation in the medical community we found out later. This doctor, younger than me by about 20 years who has since passed away. Other people have told me he was a good doctor is your weren’t sick. This doctor got me started on pills for sport, one day as I was sitting on the exam table the doctor said, “That works by the way.” I said “What works?” Then he pointed to the table and the disposable paper covering the table had “Viagra” printed all over it and suggested I try it. At that point I had never had any ED issues. He gave me several sample packs of about 6 tablets each and said, “Have a good time.” Well, I did, it made me feel 30 years younger and I was hooked.
I had cataract surgery about 7 years ago and about a month after the second eye was done I was taking a shower one morning and my right eye had what appeared to be a water line at the bottom of my vision, this waterline just kept rising until my vision was gone in my right eye. My ophthalmologist referred me to a retina specialist, then an optic nerve specialist and they both diagnosed the same thing, in layman’s terms, I had a stroke in my eye and part of my optic nerve died, nothing can bring it back, confirmed again by my current eye doctor. The reason I mention this is the doctors, all of them, blamed it on Viagra and told me to never take it again! They said Viagra was the cause of the stroke in my eye.
My sex life returned to “normal” meaning no stimulants of any type and I got along just fine until this last year. I have experimented with the popular herbs and have good luck with them until the last month or so. Now I get erect, but lose it before penetration or before my orgasm, the wife sees no problem because she still cums at least twice, one manually before and one from penetration.
I am overdue for a urology exam and will go in after the coronavirus scare has calmed down. Meanwhile, I am very interested in learning as much as I can from all of you so I can have an intelligent conversation with my doctor and to determine if my doctor is the right doctor for me under the current situation. My PSA has always been extremely low so I have been lax in getting regular check ups, I had one biopsy to check an irregular shape and it was negative.
I am sure the pills would still work for me, but I have been warned against taking them by three eye doctors and my internist. So, I am guessing injections would be my logical next step. I am very interested in what each of you have to say and reading about what you have learned.
Thank you to all who make this site possible.
