History:
60 year old male
Never had prostate or back surgery
Had scope done March, enlarged prostate but no cancer
Prescribed flowmax and happy with results
Highest weight 350lbs August 2017
August 2017 respiratory issues and steroids put me over the edge became diabetic
Began weight loss journey August 2017, reduced weight with diet and exercise to 285lbs. Still losing and working hard at it with HIIT and counting calories with healthier choices, goal weight 250
Non smoker
Social drinker! 1-2 mixed drinks a month
Used viagra since 42, 50mg worked fine, over years increased to 100 mg, stopped working many years ago,
Tried cialis, better results with viagra
Tried ED Vac pump, got erection but lost immediately when removing pump
Used various rings and adjustable restriction devices. Still lost er reaction within 5 mins
Urologist prescribed trimix and went to his office was shown how to inject. Injected with 25 units, had a semi erection in 15 minutes. He checked said I could increase dosage to 50 units or use restriction device on base of penis. Semi last 2 hours
Home use tried 50 units, slight results. Not enough for intercourse
Tried again 60 units, not enough for intercourse. Both times at home erection would come, go, walking around it would come back and then go again. Anytime there was an erection it was not enough for intercourse. It could possibly work with a ring but prefer not to use one.
Questions:
Am I doing something wrong?
Do I need to increase dosage some more?
Do I need a stronger mix of trimix? Current prescription is
Papavarine 30mg
Alprostadil 20mg
Phentolarmibe 1mg
Thank you I look forward to the groups help and suggestions

I am not a doctor of any kind, but your case and mine seem to share some common factors, specifically diabetes and obesity. The root cause of my ED and my obesity is my diabetes. Losing 60 pounds (down to 165) was a major step forward, but I was counseled by my GP that I also had to get all my blood chemistry numbers in order. I was able to do that at the same time I was losing the flab by focusing on protein intake, muscle (re)building, and the like. All of that put my numbers in order. The most dramatic was increasing my T-level from low 300's to over 700. All that to say is that managing diabetes on all fronts may be the key to your ED and is certainly a major factor in your life expectancy.
Even when blood chemistry is askew, that Trimix should make and keep your little man hard. That is does not is troubling. I suggest 3 avenues of inquiry. Getting your blood chem number right is #1. #2 is asking your uro about the possibility of a venous leak. All the testosterone and all the Trimix in the world can produce a functioning erection if the blood leaks out faster than it flows in. #3 is to experiment withe the Trimix formula. I was very fortunate. My fist shot was a home run and so has every one since.
Again, I'm not a doctor. All of this is from a patient's viewpoint. Consult with your medical time. Make sure whoever is treating the diabetes knows about the ED and make sure the URO knows about the diabetes. They need to be working together until this is resolved. Again, I was very fortunate. My GP and my Uro were roommates in med school: #1 and #2 in their class. Not shabby at all.
Best wishes for hard times. Please keep in touch. I'm hopeful you can find a solution that doesn't involve surgery. However, if that's where you end up, go for it.
Peace.

I see some typos that may be confusing. Sorry about that. Depend on the context.

Dear Friend,
It usually takes much more than 3 tries to figure out what works. Your formula is medium straight so you can go up to 40/30/2 or even more.
It could still be your injection technique. For larger men Autoject works better usuallly because visibility and control is tough. I highly recommend it. It totally took out the guess work for me and it makes the shot completely painless and fast.
All the best.

Unfortunately, For some guys, Trimix doesn’t always work or looses its effectiveness after a while. I also am a diabetic (25 years) and Diabetes causes both peripheral neuropathy- loss of sensitivity of the nerve endings in your penis and autonomic neuropathy- - reduction of bodily functions such as sexual response.
Another malady which can reduce the effectiveness of Trimix is a venous leak which allows blood to drain out of your penile chambers faster than Trimix can cause it to flow in.
I followed the same path as you through reducing Viagra effectiveness, reducing effectiveness of constriction bands to increasing ineffectiveness of Trimix .
Currently, the only effective means I have to generate and maintain a hard errection is with the use of a VED combined with an Osbon tension band. Only an Osbon works for me.
Hopefully, strengthening of the Trimix mixture will work for you.

edp,
Sorry to hear you are not getting success with Trimix yet.
As DT and Ant said, there are a variety of health factors that can thwart even Trimix. One that I speculate is pretty important easy to measure is HBP ... if you have HBP you probably have reduced blood flow to your most important extremity.
Another that you don't hear much about is cardio health affect on ED. This good heart and circulation health also aids bloodflow, but it is more a matter of what does your blood flow do under exercise or stress. If BP/HR goes way up and after only a little exercise or stress, then both of those activities can also thwart an erection. It is kind of a reason why a long hours erection can be somewhat reduced by doing strenuous exercises or even things that increase stress -- like highway driving.
These changes are long term strategies to be sure. One way of judging what good cardio health/bloodflow look like is look at a healthy young guys arms. If he has bulging veins -- that's what you are looking for too. Much tougher to get in older age of course but bulging arm veins mean bulging penis too .... all girls know that.
good luck and keep on keepin on...

Just wanted to thank everyone and provide an update, the Trimix is just not working at dr office when he injected me I felt a warm tingly feeling after the injection, then some pain in the head of my penis. Pressure pain perhaps a 3 or 4 on scale of 10. To be honest it felt good, felt alive. I have not been able to get the results since, I achieved an erection that was very close to being enough to penetrate. I tied seven more times and fairly confident I am injecting correctly. I do get a semi but maybe 30 percent injecting 60 units were dr on injected 25 with better results. The last time I injected I achieved an erection during oral that was fantastic, once oral stopped erection went away. After half hour we gave up, I went in bath room to clean up and the erection came back, seems if I am standing I can get a decent erection, laying down it goes. Anyone else experience this?

Just a question for you (or any injecting member)... How expensive is the auto-injector? I ask because there are a lot of posts where the member has been suggested to try the auto-injector. In some cases (like this one) the member still doesn't know if the drug will work. Wouldn't it be premature to purchase the auto-injector until he finds out if the drug will work? One member, a while ago, had his wife give the injection. That went on to playing doctor and nurse which in turn, became part of their sexual experience.

Let me throw in my 1 cent here (I won't claim a worth of 2). I still have to wonder if the OP is injecting correctly. He should probably have the doctor give him another injection at a stronger dose and see how it works with the doctor giving the injection. While I wouldn't yet give up hope on injections there may be other issues besides injection technique or dose. VL may be an issue.
I'm not an auto-inject person but with the amount of loot that gets spent on this whole ED issue I feel the cost of one of the auto injector units is pretty small. Not even the cost of a modest dinner out for two. I can still see my dick over my belly well enough to give the shot but not for long if I don't quit putting on weight. If that was an issue I can see where the auto injectors would be a more viable option.
